MobileHelp Review 2025: Why we recommend MobileHelp

We recommend MobileHelp based on its value, reliability, user-friendliness, and the quality of the communication between testers and monitoring staff. Our testers gave MobileHelp top marks for brand reputation and user experience. Device setup was simple, with easy-to-follow instructions. And the two-way communication with the monitoring center was clear and strong.

We like that MobileHelp offers:

  • Discounted bundles for two-person households
  • Transparent subscription prices
  • Zero hidden fees at checkout
  • The ability to cancel your membership at any time without contracts or penalty fees

We also like that MobileHelp offers a service called MobileHelp Connect®, which allows designated contacts to access location services through the MobileHelp Connect® website. This can help care partners talk to one another in an emergency or coordinate care as needed.

MobileHelp device reviews

MobileHelp Classic Landline

The Classic Landline is the most affordable option from MobileHelp (starting at $24.95 per month). It offers coverage of up to 600 feet—a little less than the length of two football fields. Easy to install and use, the Classic Landline is a good choice for someone who wants to feel safe inside their home.

MobileHelp Classic Landline

MobileHelp Classic Landline medical alert device
  • Device type: At-home
  • Device range: 600 feet
  • Fall detection: No
  • Max. battery life: 30-hour backup battery life
  • GPS tracking: No
  • Caregiver alerts: Yes
  • Connection type: Landline

What’s different about the Classic Landline

The Classic Landline connects to a home’s landline system and offers up to 600 feet of coverage. If you spend most of your day in your home or yard, this should provide enough coverage. You can connect to the 24/7/365 monitoring center by pressing the button on the base unit or the wearable button, though you can only hear and speak to the monitoring center through the base unit (the device you plug into the wall). The wearable button is water-resistant, so you can take it with you into the shower. But it's not recommended to submerge the button in a bath or swimming pool.

If you’re looking for an easy-to-use unit, the Classic Landline is a good choice. “The only thing a user needs beforehand is a suitable location and wall outlet,” said one of our testers.

“Everything else is provided in the box by MobileHelp and the instructions give clear directions of what to do.”

MobileHelp manual directions for setup
The MobileHelp manual was generally easy to follow. Testers like the images that correspond to directions and the large print.

The unit plugs into a wall outlet, but it has a backup battery that lasts up to 30 hours in case of power outages.

One drawback of the Classic Landline is it doesn’t offer fall detection. Because falls in the home are common and increase the chance of other health complications, it’s important to consider the risks of not having fall detection as part of your medical alert system.1 If you’d prefer to include this feature, the Classic Cellular might be a better choice.

MobileHelp Classic Cellular

The Classic Cellular is very similar to the Classic Landline. But because it connects to a cellular network, it has coverage of 1,400 feet and can be paired with fall detection. We think this is a better deal—the Classic Landline doesn’t offer fall detection for the same subscription price. It’s always a good idea to have the option to add fall detection to your medical alert system if you need it down the line, even if it’s not an essential on the day you buy your device.

MobileHelp Classic Cellular

  • Device type: At-home
  • Device range: 1,400 feet
  • Fall detection: Yes
  • Max. battery life: 30-hour backup battery life
  • GPS tracking: No
  • Caregiver alerts: Yes
  • Connection type: AT&T LTE

What’s different about the Classic Cellular

The Classic Cellular model uses AT&T’s network to connect to the 24/7/365 monitoring center. That doesn’t mean you need to be an AT&T customer and doesn’t require you to purchase any extra data. It provides coverage of up to 1,400 feet (more than twice the length of the Classic Landline) and is compatible with the MobileHelp Fall Button. The Classic Cellular’s wearable button comes in both a necklace and a wrist option. Similar to the Classic Landline, you call for assistance by pushing the wearable button, and all communication occurs through the base unit.

The Classic Cellular also includes the option of a wall button, which you can place in common fall areas such as the bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen.

One of our testers noted the initial setup wasn’t as smooth as they hoped. “The device not connecting to the cellular network at first and requiring a call to customer care was annoying and took extra time,” they said. “If the instructions detailed why this might be happening, it would have been easier. The large print of instructions and helpfulness of customer care helped the setup a little.”

Testers struggled initially to set up the Classic Cellular device but were eventually able to figure out what to do on their own using the manual.

Once set up, one of our testers found communication to be positive. “The automated voice [on the device when setting it up] is clear and easy to understand,” they said. “When the call connects to the monitoring center, the sound quality is a little static-y and softer.”

MobileHelp Solo

The MobileHelp Solo is a mobile system that works both at home and while you’re out. With a waterproof button and GPS location tracking, the Solo provides both flexibility and security when you leave home.

MobileHelp Solo

MobileHelp Solo medical alert device
  • Device type: On the go/GPS
  • Device range: 600 feet
  • Device type: On the go/GPS
  • Fall detection: Yes
  • Max. battery life: 36 hours
  • GPS tracking: Yes
  • Caregiver alerts: Yes
  • Connection type: AT&T LTE

What’s different about the Solo

The MobileHelp Solo keeps you connected with the monitoring center wherever you are as long as there is cellular coverage. It includes a mobile unit and a waterproof wearable button you can pair to the mobile unit. The wearable button comes in both a necklace or wristband option. Similar to the Classic Cellular, the Solo uses AT&T coverage to connect to the monitoring center. You are not required to have a specific cellular plan or contract to use this device.

Our testers found the MobileHelp Solo to be user-friendly. One tester said, “The button is clear and easy to press. And the voice prompts are clear and when testing, easy to answer and to move through the testing process.”

The Solo uses GPS tracking to pinpoint a user’s location. After pushing the button at several different locations—a suburban park, a Walmart, and an urban office—we requested GPS coordinates from the monitoring center. We found the tracking to be accurate down to the exact address.

MobileHelp Solo in the palm of a person’s hand
Testers took all of the devices to three set locations and pushed the help buttons. They tracked whether monitoring center staff could pinpoint their exact location.

The Solo had an average response time of 50 seconds, which we consider to be excellent (anything under 60 seconds is considered “passing”). The monitoring center staff were professional and answered by using the tester’s name. The staff members were understanding that it was a test.

One drawback of the Solo is you aren’t able to cancel a call once you’ve pressed the button. “There is no indication in the user manual that a call can be cancelled after it is placed,” said a tester.

Some of our testers also found the button to be bulky. They said it felt heavy on the chest and bounced when they moved. If you’re looking for something more discreet, we recommend the Micro.

MobileHelp Micro

The Micro is MobileHelp’s smallest, lightest, and easiest-to-wear medical alert device. The Micro is the same price as the Solo, but is smaller and doesn’t include an extra help button. If the bulkiness of the Solo bothers you, you’ll probably like the smaller Micro.

MobileHelp Micro

  • Device range: N/A
  • Fall detection: Yes
  • Max. battery life: 36 hours
  • GPS tracking: Yes
  • Caregiver alerts: Yes
  • Connection type: AT&T LTE

What’s different about the Micro

The Micro is a small, lightweight medical alert device weighing in at 52 grams (about the same weight as a medium-size egg). It is water resistant, which means you can safely wear it in the shower. And it comes with a detachable lanyard, giving you the option to either wear the device or keep it in your pocket. When you push the button, you’ll be connected to the emergency monitoring center. The speaker lets you communicate with the emergency professional through the device itself.

Unlike the other MobileHelp offerings, the Micro has an option to add fall detection directly into the device. This means you only need to carry the Micro with you. All of the other MobileHelp devices offer a separate fall detection button you’ll need to wear in addition to the emergency help button. The Micro is the only model that includes all of the features in one device.

At first, we had a hard time understanding any benefit of the Solo over the Micro. Why pay the same amount to carry around more buttons if you need fall detection? So we called the customer service line to see. Samantha, the representative who took our call, was courteous and friendly, saying that the Solo can be worn as a wrist button, which many people prefer. This was confirmed in our 2025 survey of medical alert system users, which found that 25% of respondents like to wear their help button on their wrist, which is second only to wearing it on the neck.

She explained that the Solo is almost the same width but 3.1 inches high vs. the Micro, which is 2.4 inches high. Many people do prefer the easy all-in-one Micro system. “The one-button system is simple and user-friendly,” she explained. But you won’t get any extra buttons, not even a wall button. So if you want a more comprehensive system, you’ll prefer the Solo.

MobileHelp bundling options

MobileHelp offers discounted bundle packages for two users at the same address. This helps to save you money since you’re not paying for two separate subscriptions. It’s a good option for households where two people want the security of a medical alert device without having to each purchase their own. Choosing a bundle over buying two separate devices would save you about

MobileHelp Home Duo Bundle

MobileHelp Home Duo Bundle

MobileHelp Home Duo devices

The Home Duo bundle includes an in-home base unit with a waterproof, wearable help button and a mobile unit. This bundle works with fall detection, which you’ll need to purchase separately. Or you can include fall detection as part of the mobile device’s features. At $44.95, the Home Duo Bundle is $10 more than a single mobile device subscription.

This bundle is a good choice for households with two people who might have different mobility. For example, if one person tends to stay at home, they could benefit from the wearable button and in-home base unit. If the second person leaves more frequently, they can take the mobile unit with them.

MobileHelp Mobile Duo Bundle

MobileHelp Mobile Duo Bundle

MobileHelp Mobile Duo medical alert devices

The Mobile Duo Bundle includes two Micros. Lightweight and water repellant—which means it’s safe for showering with but not swimming—these devices offer GPS tracking and two-way communication with emergency operators wherever there is cell coverage. This bundle costs just $5 more per month than buying a single Micro device.

The Mobile Duo Bundle is a good choice for households with two people who have higher mobility and don’t need an in-home unit. Each person can carry their mobile device with them or wear them on a detachable necklace. If you choose to include integrated fall detection, you’ll want to wear your device around your neck for the most accurate monitoring.

How much do MobileHelp devices cost?

MobileHelp has some of the most affordable devices in the industry. The Classic Landline and Classic Cellular options are about $10 less than most other models on the market. The Solo and Micro are competitive with similar models. And the bundles help you save money if your household wants more than one device.

MobileHelp also keeps their prices transparent, with no activation or equipment fees for the main units. Because nearly half our picks for best medical alert systems have hidden fees, we like how transparent MobileHelp is. You do have the option to add on additional equipment and features, like:

  • Caregiver alerts: OnGuard Alerts send a text to caregivers when you press the emergency button. It costs $2.99 per month.
  • Fall detection: Both the fall detection device and the integrated fall detection feature option cost $5.50 per month. That’s about half the price of the average price of fall detection ($10/month). For more information on fall detection, see our review of the best medical alert systems with fall detection.
  • Wall button: A waterproof wall button costs $2.99 per month.
  • Lockbox: This secure box holds a key to let emergency responders into your home. It costs $2.99 per month, but it’s free if you opt for an annual subscription.
  • Protection plan: Replacement coverage for the device or help buttons in the case of accidental damage, loss, theft, or wear and tear. It costs $6.99 per month.
  • Additional help buttons: Extra help buttons cost $2.99 per month. They come in either necklace or wrist strap options.

How to save money on MobileHelp devices

The simplest way to save money on MobileHelp devices is to purchase an annual subscription. That gives you free shipping and a free lockbox. If you want more than one device or have a household with two people needing devices, one of the bundles is a good option to save you money on the second subscription.

Medical alert systems aren’t typically covered by Medicaid or Medicare. If you have private insurance you might have coverage, but you’ll want to look into your specific benefits. You might also be able to use your health savings account (HSA) or flexible spending account (FSA) to pay for the device.

MobileHelp accessories and options

MobileHelp offers a wide variety of accessories and additional services to tailor your medical alert device to your specific needs. Some of these medical alert system features include:

  • Lockbox: A lockbox provides emergency responders the ability to enter your home. They’ll input a code provided by the monitoring center to gain access to a key.
  • Fall detection: Fall detection senses falls and calls emergency services if you are unable to press the button.
  • Wall buttons: Wall buttons are waterproof and can be added near the floor in high-risk areas, such as bathrooms and bedrooms.
  • Caregiver alerts: MobileHelp uses OnGuard Alerts, which sends a text to your designated contacts in addition to emergency services when you press the button.

The MobileHelp user experience

Our testers found MobileHelp’s devices to be user-friendly and reliable. Several testers noted it was somewhat difficult to get the package open due to a tight sleeve surrounding the box, which might be hard for people with dexterity issues. Once the box was opened, the testers found the instruction manual easy to understand, with the devices themselves requiring little setup.

Users also said in our MobileHelp review they appreciated how the company provides everything you need to get your system set up. All you need to do is find a location in your home next to a wall outlet.

Once they pushed the help button, testers found the automated instructions to be loud and clear, and the monitoring center responders were friendly. Connection to the center happened almost immediately. More than 90% of MobileHelp users in our 2025 survey of medical alert systems customers found interactions with the monitoring center to be “very positive and helpful.”

One of our surveyed MobileHelp users said they feel more secure with their device: "Having a medical alert system makes me feel secure and reassured, knowing help is always available at the press of a button. It gives me peace of mind, especially when alone or thinking about loved ones who might need emergency assistance. It’s comforting to know that in case of a fall or medical emergency, I wouldn’t have to struggle to get help.”

MobileHelp’s customer service and warranty

  • Warranty and trial period: MobileHelp offers a limited lifetime warranty and the option to add additional protection for $6.99 per month for wear and tear, accidental damage, loss, and theft.
  • Returns: You can cancel your subscription at any time. You’ll need to return all of the equipment to MobileHelp unless you purchased it through a third-party seller, like Amazon. Service ends the day you call, meaning you might receive a prorated refund.
  • Customer service: Visit MobileHelp’s customer service page to send a message, or call their customer service number at 1-800-809-9964.

Are MobileHelp devices right for you?

Deciding which MobileHelp device is right for you depends on many personal factors. Ask yourself:

  • What needs are you hoping to meet with a medical alert device?
  • Are you someone who tends to stay home or leaves the house on a more frequent basis?
  • Would you prefer a landline connection or a cellular one?
  • Do you live with another person who would also use a medical alert device?

One important factor to consider is if you could benefit from fall detection monitoring, which is available on all MobileHelp devices except the Classic Landline.

“We have had clients share stories of instances where fall detection saved their lives by sending emergency services before anyone was even aware they had fallen,” said Alexander Desoto, a senior care and medical transportation expert and the CEO of CallTheCare in Hallandale, Florida. “The earlier someone is aided, the better their outcome will be, both physically and emotionally.”
