About NCOA
The National Council on Aging (NCOA) is the national voice for every person’s right to age well. We believe that how we age should not be determined by gender, color, sexuality, income, or ZIP code. Working with thousands of national and local partners, we provide resources, tools, best practices, and advocacy to ensure every person can age with health and financial security.
Who We Are
Get to Know NCOA
We are on the path to positively impact the health and economic security of 40 million older adults by 2030, especially women, people of color, LGBTQ+, low-income, and rural individuals.
70+ Years in the Making
Since 1950, we've made improving the lives of older adults our passion and our mission. We were the first national organization focused on older adults, formed in response to rising health costs and mandatory retirement.
The Impact We've Made
Our strategy is simple: Keep ourselves accountable by measuring our impact; innovate and curate proven solutions that impact the lives of older adults; and scale our work through critical legislative measures, partnering with organizations that share our mission, and social enterprise.
Why Equity Matters
The road older adults travel cannot be wrought with bias, stigma, and seeing us as “less than”. After a lifetime of working hard, raising the next generation, and contributing to our economy and community, we owe it to ourselves to ensure that every older adult has the opportunity to age well.
Our Roadmap to Equitable Aging
NCOA’s Public Policy Positions are grounded in the belief that on-the-ground service informs advocacy. They shine a light on and amplify the voices of those who are often invisible and unheard.
Working Transparently and Effectively
NCOA partners with nonprofit organizations, government, and business to provide innovative community programs and services, online help, and advocacy. On an annual basis, we provides an update on the organization's mission, governance, management, and programs.
