The most popular of its three hybrid models, the Titan Plus Luxe, was our overall top choice for best mattress for higher-weight sleepers. But as you’ll learn in this Titan mattress review, Titan hybrid mattresses can suit anyone who likes a firm mattress. They offer exceptional support, durability, and a high degree of firmness. Titan Mattress

- Great pressure and pain relief
- Stable edges and firm surface
- High weight limit (1,000 pounds)
- Suitable for all sleeping positions
Why choose Titan?
Titan hybrid mattresses were among the first designed specifically for higher-weight sleepers. The brand’s mattresses feature extremely durable construction using 8-inch steel coils that resist sagging, and dense memory foam. Titan mattresses hold up to 1,000 pounds, the highest weight limit of any mattress we’ve tested. The brand’s solid construction helps distribute weight evenly, providing great pressure relief. Both Titan mattresses we tested earned high scores in pressure relief (4.5/5 for the Titan Plus and 4.67/5 for the Titan Plus Luxe). Our older adult testers also found Titan’s pressure relief to be similarly impressive in every position: back, side, and stomach.
The Titan Plus is one of the firmest mattresses we tested (9/10) and had perfect scores for edge support. For those seeking a softer mattress, the Titan Plus Luxe is a medium-firm option (6/10). Due to its high pain relief score (4.36/5), the Titan Plus was named one of our best mattresses for neck pain, best mattresses for hip pain, and best mattresses for back pain.
“Higher-weight people may be more likely to experience low back pain or other joint issues,” said Caitlyn Tivy, DPT, OCS, an orthopedic clinical consultant in Carbondale, Colorado. “Some may not feel this pain specifically at night, but others might find that poor mattress support aggravates these concerns. In those cases, having a mattress that supports the body’s natural shape and distributes weight appropriately can make a real difference in comfort and sleep quality.”
Its high pain relief score (4.62/5) and top accessibility score (4.92/5) earned the Titan Plus Luxe a spot in our roundup of the best mattresses for arthritis. Titan mattresses come with free shipping, a 120-night trial period, and Titan’s lifetime limited warranty.
Based on our testing, Titan mattresses are a great value. A queen-size mattress rings in below $1,000. Yet it still offers many of the same benefits of higher-priced mattresses that performed similarly in our tests.

Understanding our scoring
Our mattress recommendations are based on our thorough research and testing. We created two scores:
- Accessibility score: A combined score reflecting factors that make it easier to move around and get in and out of bed.
- Pain relief score: A combined score reflecting factors that help relieve pain while in bed.
The Plus: Titan’s Best Value Mattress
The Titan Plus

- Strongest edges of any mattress we tested
- Firm, stable surface helps keep the spine aligned
- Great pressure relief
- Pain relief score: 4.36/5
- Material: Hybrid
- Brand firmness rating: 8/10
- Ideal sleeping position: Side, back, stomach
Our experience with the Titan Plus
The Titan Plus is a firm hybrid mattress designed for higher-weight people. High-density foam and individually wrapped 8-inch steel coils allow it to handle more weight than the average mattress (up to 1,000 pounds). But more importantly, it distributes weight evenly. “With more body weight on the mattress, that supportive structure underneath becomes even more important,” said Tivy, the physical therapist in Colorado. Durable construction can also help ensure the mattress doesn’t sag over time, contributing to the Titan’s high firmness level of 9/10.
“While it’s partially a matter of personal preference, an overly soft mattress can cause the body to collapse into awkward positions during sleep. That can lead to discomfort or joint strain,” Tivy said. “On the other hand, a mattress that’s slightly firmer helps keep the body in a more neutral alignment, which generally promotes better sleep posture.”

A high firmness level may also help make the Titan Plus easier to move around on. “It was very easy to roll from one position to the next,” said one of our testers, Patti, a 74-year-old lighter-weight combination sleeper. “There’s no sinkage that’s making it hard for me to move.
The Titan Plus provided great support in any sleeping position. When Patti lay on her side, she said, “I don’t feel any pain or pressure forming.” Patti was surprised by how comfortable it felt. “My spine is aligned. I can tell it’s firm. It’s not cushioning or contouring but not painful. I think it’d be good for back and neck problems.”
The Titan Plus also earned high marks for edge stability. When we placed a weight on the mattress and measured how far the edge sank, the Titan Plus had only a one-inch decrease, the lowest of any mattress we tested.

Our testers agreed that the edges felt very secure. “I don’t slide down or move at all,” Patti said while sitting on the edge. “It feels pretty firm, and you don’t sink.”
It would be great for people with back pain because of the excellent spinal alignment. I’m lying very flat, with my spine in a straight line.”
—Patti, 74, lighter-weight combination sleeper
Titan Plus pros and cons
Pros
- Designed for higher-weight sleepers
- Great support in all positions
- Good for pain relief
- Extremely stable and easier to get in and out of
Cons
- Could feel too firm for some
- No white-glove delivery available
- Lighter-weight sleepers may benefit from more cushioning
Who is the Titan Plus right for?
We recommend the Titan Plus for anyone who likes firm support, especially higher-weight people. It supports all positions equally and scores above average for cooling. Testers gave it high praise for being easier to move on and get in and out of than many other mattresses. Lighter-weight stomach sleepers may prefer a slightly softer mattress. A bed with more give will allow their hips to sink in more, helping relieve pressure.

Our experience with the Titan Plus Luxe
The Titan Plus Luxe hybrid mattress is similar to the Titan Plus, but with more comfort layers. It is a true medium-firm mattress (6/10), so it may appeal to those who like a softer mattress than the Plus. Medium-firm mattresses are generally best for promoting comfort, sleep quality, and spinal alignment.1 The Plus Luxe holds the same amount of weight as the Plus, with 8-inch individually wrapped steel coils to evenly distribute weight. It features extra layers of comfort foam that contribute to its height. As a result, the Titan Plus Luxe has a total height of 13 inches, compared to the Titan Plus at 11.25 inches.

The Titan Plus Luxe is the brand’s most popular model because it balances support and comfort. Our testers said it felt supportive regardless of their sleeping position, but gave it the highest score for back support, a perfect 5/5. “Lying on my back feels great,” said Patti, a 74-year-old lighter-weight combination sleeper. “I feel cushioning, and my spine is aligned. There’s a very good balance between pressure relief and support. I could lie here forever.”
The extra memory foam in the Titan Plus Luxe provides a more cushioned feel, but it may trap more heat. In our testing, the Titan Luxe mattress warmed up more than other mattresses we tested, with an 11-degree rise in temperature after use. We prefer a temperature increase of 10 degrees or less, so we gave this mattress a 3/5 for cooling. “While there is space for airflow, the top does seem like it's absorbing some heat compared to other mattresses,” said one tester. “The top seems more like a memory foam so I think that's what's trapping heat a bit.”

This mattress has decent edge support, though not as strong as the Titan Plus. Testers rated it a 3.5/5 for how stable the edges felt when sitting and 4.5/5 for how stable they felt when lying down. “It feels very secure,” said Patti, while lying down on the edge. “There is no risk of falling off.”
When sitting, she said, “It is relatively easy to stand up and sit down, but there is some sinkage that inhibits my ability to rely on the edge for support.” Stable edges on a mattress may make a difference for anyone with chronic pain or mobility issues. So can a mattress’s bounce. The Titan Plus Luxe earned a perfect score for bounce, making it one of the more accessible mattresses we tested.
I feel more on the bed than in the bed. There is more support in the middle of the bed, and it is very easy to move around on. I’m not getting trapped in the pillow top.”
—Patti, 74, lighter-weight combination sleeper
