Nectar established itself as a strong direct-to-consumer brand with one of the first quality but affordable memory foam mattresses on the market. The brand has since expanded its offerings to include a line of hybrid mattresses and more premium offerings like their Luxe and Ultra models. In our testing, we found Nectar mattresses have excellent pressure relief and motion isolation. And they’re compatible with most adjustable bases.
We named Nectar mattresses as top picks in several of our best mattress roundups, including the best mattresses for side sleepers, best mattresses for back pain, and best mattresses for adjustable beds.
In this Nectar mattress review, we take a closer look at the Nectar Classic Memory Foam and Hybrid, Premier Memory Foam and Hybrid, and the Luxe Hybrid. And we preview upcoming reviews of the latest mattresses from the brand, the Ultra Memory Foam and Ulta Hybrid.
Nectar

- Great value for cost
- 365-night trial period
- Free returns and lifetime warranty
Why choose Nectar?
With so many mattresses on the market, what sets Nectar apart? The brand offers one of the longest trial periods in the industry (365 nights) and a lifetime warranty (white-glove delivery, where the mattress is set up for you and your old mattress removed, is offered for an additional fee). You can return a mattress free of charge, and the company will coordinate donating or recycling it. Nectar also received a perfect score for customer service from our testers.
Nectar initially found success with its memory foam mattresses. These memory foam mattresses are made with five layers, including a cooling polyester blend cover that wicks heat away and layers of different foams that contour, promote spinal alignment, and minimize motion transfer. In our tests, Nectar mattresses were among the best at limiting motion transfer between sleeping partners. They were also recognized for how evenly they supported sleepers in every position. The mattresses were especially great for side sleepers. Side sleeping is the most common sleeping position but tends to put pressure on joints like shoulders and hips.
Nectar offers good value, with its mattresses receiving many testing scores similar to brands like Saatva but at a slightly lower price. The brand uses eco-friendly and safe materials in its foams and other mattress materials. All the foams used are CertiPUR-US®-certified.

Understanding our scoring
Our mattress recommendations are based on our thorough research and testing. We created two scores:
- Accessibility score: A combined score reflecting factors that make it easier for older adults to move around and get in and out of bed.
- Pain relief score: A combined score reflecting factors that help relieve pain while in bed.
The Premier Memory Foam: Nectar’s Most Popular Memory Foam Mattress
The Nectar Premier Memory Foam mattress combines comfort and value. Designed to stay cooler and be twice as supportive as the Nectar Classic Memory Foam mattress, the Nectar Premier is a worthwhile upgrade for anyone looking for cushioning and support in any sleeping position. Like other Nectar memory foam mattresses, it’s also compatible with most adjustable bases.
The Nectar Premier Memory Foam

- Excellent support in all sleeping positions
- Great motion isolation for couples or those who sleep with pets
- Compatible with every adjustable base we tested
- Pain relief score: 4.2/5
- Material: Memory foam
- Brand firmness rating: 6.5/10
- Ideal sleeping position: Side, back, stomach
Our experience with the Nectar Premier
The Nectar Premier Memory Foam mattress is a step up from the base model, the Nectar Classic. It is designed with twice as much contouring memory foam—enough to add an inch to the mattress’s overall height, making it taller than the Classic at 13”—and 60% more cooling fibers. The result is an even more supportive mattress that stays cooler than the Classic. That’s great for a memory foam mattress, since they tend to retain heat.

All of Nectar’s memory foam mattresses have three basic layers:
- The top layer wicks heat away.
- The middle layer offers contouring support.
- The base layer provides more support and helps limit motion transfer.
The Premier’s top two layers are slightly larger than the Classic but smaller than the Luxe or Ultra. It lacks the zoned support of the more premium memory foam mattresses from Nectar. That didn’t stop the Nectar premier from acing our pressure support tests and securing our spot in our roundup of the best mattresses for herniated discs. Our testers described lying on the Nectar Premier Memory Foam mattress as feeling “gently hugged” and rated it high for pressure relief in all positions, but especially when lying on their sides. The Nectar Premier Memory Foam had the highest test score of any mattress we tested for side pressure relief.

Our testers appreciated the even, edge-to-edge support, and how good the foam was at preventing motion transfer from a partner that might disrupt their sleep. They were also pleasantly surprised by how cool this foam mattress stayed. “The top feels dense and like it'll actually trap and increase heat,” one said, “But lying down, I'm surprised by how well it keeps me cool.”
Testers commented over and over how soft and silky this mattress feels. But if you prefer a firm mattress, this may not be the best choice for you. And the cushioning effect of the foam made changing positions more difficult compared to a hybrid mattress. “I have to use more of my heels and arms to roll over and pick myself out of the mattress,” one tester said.
The mattress sinks in, but not too much. The sinkage feels even and my body is supported. The silky texture of the mattress does not make me feel like I am going to slide off. The memory foam layers are strong enough to keep me from feeling like I will fall out.”

Nectar Premier Memory Foam pros and cons
Pros
- Great support in any position, especially on the side
- Stays cooler than many foam mattresses
- Good value for the price
- Limits how much you feel a partner moving
- Works with practically any adjustable base

- More difficult to move around on than a hybrid mattress
- Could be too soft for some
Who is the Nectar Premier Memory Foam right for?
Because of its high pressure relief scores across the board, the Nectar Premier Memory Foam mattress is good for anyone who likes the gentle support and cushioning of memory foam. It’s also good for couples who don’t want to be disturbed by their partner’s movements at night.

Who should keep looking for their perfect mattress?
- Anyone who prefers a firm mattress.
- Combination sleepers who change position a lot may find it difficult to do on this mattress.
The Premier Hybrid: Nectar’s Most Popular Hybrid Mattress (That’s Great for Back and Shoulder Pain)
With better support and superior cooling than the Classic Hybrid, the Nectar Premier Hybrid mattress offers medium-firm support and back pain relief at a decent value. Its combination of individually wrapped coils and dense memory foam provide strong support and enough spring to make moving easier than on memory foam. These features led us to name the Nectar Premier Hybrid the top pick in our roundup of best hybrid mattresses and best hybrid for shoulder pain in our roundup of the best mattresses for shoulder pain.
The Nectar Premier Hybrid

- Supportive for back and side sleepers
- One of the top hybrid mattresses for minimizing motion
- Cool-touch cover
- Pain relief score: 3.91/5
- Material: Innerspring and foam
- Brand firmness rating: 6.5
- Ideal sleeping position: Back, side
Our experience with the Nectar Premier Hybrid
The Nectar Premier Hybrid mattress combines the benefits of memory foam and innerspring coils with improved support (nearly twice as much) and cooling compared to the Nectar Classic. The even support of this medium-firm mattress was clear to both average-weight and higher-weight testers.
A higher-weight tester commented that the Nectar Premier Hybrid was one of the most comfortable and supportive mattresses he tried when sleeping on his back and side. Our pressure map tests had similar results, with the Nectar Premier Hybrid earning identical almost-perfect scores for pressure relief in both those positions.
The Nectar Premier Hybrid mattress has a layer of individually wrapped coils above its foundation, topped by layers of memory foam and a cooling, heat-wicking layer on top. Testers found this combination kept them well-supported and took pressure off joints when lying down, but also gave the mattress enough bounce to make moving on it easier than on memory foam alone. “You’re a little in it, but it doesn't feel like you’re sunken into it too much,” said one tester.

The coils and cooling top layer promote airflow, which helps keep the Nectar Premier Hybrid mattress cool at night. It was designed with 60% more cooling fibers than the Classic, and our testers said the difference is noticeable. “When I lie down, I can really feel the cooling at work,” said one tester. “It's definitely one of the better ones I’ve tested for cooling.” Our measurements found the temperature of the mattress only changed 7.5 degrees F after heating up. The average mattress we tested heated up by about 9 degrees F.
Testers did caution that anyone who prefers to sleep on their stomach may not feel supported enough on the Nectar Premier Hybrid. “I sink in too much on the stomach position, so my back starts to arch and it feels uncomfortable,” said one tester. A lack of edge support was also noted: Testers gave this mattress a score of only 2 out of 5 for edge support, and one said he didn’t feel secure when seated on the edge of the mattress.

My spine feels aligned. When I am lying on my side, this is the most comfortable mattress. There is no pressure at all on my hips and shoulders.”
—A Nectar Premier Hybrid mattress tester
Nectar Premier Hybrid pros and cons
Pros
- Great at relieving back and side pressure
- Promotes airflow for cooler sleeping
- Easier to move on than memory foam
- Above average among hybrid mattresses at limiting motion transfer
Cons
- Edge support could be better
- Not enough support for stomach sleepers
- Cover is not removable or replaceable (though Nectar says it’s working on a replacement cover option)
Who is the Nectar Premier Hybrid right for?
The Nectar Premier Hybrid mattress has the motion isolation of memory foam and the responsiveness of coils. So the mattress cushions pressure points but is easier to move on and traps less heat than memory foam alone. For those reasons, it’s one of few hybrid mattresses that’s good for couples, even if you’re a light sleeper. Because of its firm support, the Nectar Premier Hybrid is also a good choice for people of any weight who sleep on their back or side, or anyone who prefers a cool mattress.

Who should keep looking for their perfect mattress?
- People who sleep primarily on their stomach may not find this mattress supportive enough.
- Anyone who needs extra help getting in and out of bed.
The Classic Memory Foam: Nectar’s flagship mattress
The Nectar Classic Memory Foam mattress launched the brand in 2017, and has been improving ever since. We named it the overall best memory foam mattress because it outperformed all others we tested, even in areas memory foam is typically lacking, such as cooling, bounce, and edge support.
The Nectar Classic Memory Foam

- Perfect motion isolation score
- Good value
- Exceptional pressure relief, edge support, and bounce
- Supportive for any position
- Pain relief score: 4.31/5
- Material: Memory foam
- Brand firmness rating: 6.5
- Ideal sleeping position: Side, back, stomach
Our experience with the Nectar Classic Memory Foam
The Nectar Classic Memory Foam mattress redefines what memory foam can do. Layers of gel and poly foam do everything classic memory foam does well, including isolate motion from a partner and mold to the body for gentle, even support.
But as our Nectar Classic mattress testing shows, this mattress also shines where most foam mattresses fall short. Its cooling cover wicks heat away so the sleeping surface feels comfortable all night. We measured less than a 10-degree temperature change after testers used the mattress. “The mattress feels nice and cold on the top,” said one tester. “I don't feel like there's lots of airflow, but the temperature itself doesn't seem to be increasing more than normal.”

Because memory foam hugs your body, it can be difficult to move on, or less supportive at the edges. But testers found that wasn’t the case with this model. “It's pretty responsive for memory foam,” said Chris, a 66-year-old higher-weight back sleeper with sleep apnea and spinal stenosis. “It has a good bounce.” He noted that while sitting on the edge of the mattress, he felt “pretty firm and level,” and didn’t need to use his hands to rise. These qualities are more typical of innerspring mattresses like the Nectar Premier Hybrid. But this basic memory foam model rated better for seated edge support in our tests.
One of the clearest advantages of the Nectar Classic Memory Foam mattress is its excellent motion isolation. This can be important for couples, especially if one is woken easily by a partner changing positions. When we tested this by having someone get in and out of bed and move around on the mattress, the motion did not transfer to the sleeper’s side of the bed at all. Our testers gave it a perfect score, and one noted, “It's not moving at all. This wouldn't wake me.”

The Nectar Classic Memory Foam mattress is 6.5/10 on the firmness scale. It scored in the 90th percentile or better at relieving pressure for side, back, and stomach sleepers. Our tester described it as feeling soft, but anyone who prefers a soft mattress might find it too firm. Overall, this is a great value for a basic memory foam mattress.
If motion isolation is your priority, I would definitely recommend this mattress. If I was asleep there's not a chance this would wake me up. I don't know how much better you get with motion isolation than this.”
—A Nectar Classic Memory Foam tester
Nectar Classic Memory Foam pros and cons
Pros
- Limits motion transfer better than any mattress we tested
- Relieves pressure in any position
- Has good edge support and bounce for foam
- Great value
Cons
- The cover is not removable
- May be too firm for some
- Foam is heavy and may be difficult to move
Who is the Nectar Classic Memory Foam right for?
The Nectar Classic Memory Foam mattress is a great value memory foam mattress. Its ability to relieve pressure in any position may be good for combination sleepers who change positions throughout the night, or anyone looking for even support. Someone with a higher weight may benefit from this mattress because it is firm and distributes weight evenly.

Who should keep looking for their perfect mattress?
- Anyone who prefers a softer mattress.
- People who do not like the feel of memory foam.
The Classic Hybrid: Nectar’s mattress with responsive support
Nectar’s original hybrid mattress combines memory foam and springs for the benefits of both. It is a great entry-level mattress for anyone looking for even support in any position.
The Nectar Classic Hybrid

- Equally supportive in any position
- Good motion isolation, especially for a hybrid mattress
- Easier to move on
- Pain relief score: 4.15
- Material: Innerspring and foam
- Brand firmness rating: 6.5
- Ideal sleeping position: Side, back, stomach
Our experience with the Nectar Classic Hybrid
Nectar's original hybrid mattress is constructed with a layer of 8-inch individually wrapped coils sandwiched between layers of cushioning foam. The coils promote airflow and provide support wherever you need it most. Layers of memory foam support the spine and cushion joints, taking pressure off key areas like shoulders and hips.
Testers rated the Nectar Hybrid Classic mattress equally good at supporting them in all positions: side, stomach, and back. One tester who typically sleeps on their side noted the mattress felt supportive even in less preferred positions. “I don't typically sleep [on my stomach] because my back and neck hurt, but I feel very comfortable on this mattress,” they said. Similarly, lying on their back “feels really nice,” they said. “I am supported and my spine feels aligned.”
Testers also described the Nectar Hybrid Classic mattress as “responsive” and easier to move on, which is common for innerspring mattresses. They noted the foam layers added cushioning and comfort without limiting the springiness of the coils. More surprising was how well this hybrid mattress did in our motion isolation tests. Individually wrapped coils help limit how much one person can feel a co-sleeper’s movements, and our testers noticed the difference. “My partner's movements were very minimal overall, and when they got in and out of bed it was hardly detectable,” said one tester. “I was pretty impressed with the motion isolation.”
Our testers also gave the Nectar Classic Hybrid points for overall comfort and cooling. “The mattress is really soft and cool,” said one. “The topper feels plush and is very smooth. I really like how this feels.” In our temperature gun tests, this mattress saw only a 6.5-degree F increase after a long day of testing, which demonstrates how well it removes heat. The average mattress increased by about 9 degrees F.

Testers said that, although the Nectar Classic Hybrid feels stable, they would’ve liked stronger edges. “I feel like the edge collapsed a bit when I was sitting on the edge of the bed,” one tester said. “I had to use my hands to assist myself in getting up and down. I also felt my bottom start to slide a bit because of the topper’s silky texture.”
Shorter testers also found the mattress to be slightly high for them. “It was harder for me to get on and off the mattress at this height [12 inches]. I did feel like the edge collapsed more in the seated position. I had to use my hands to assist myself with getting up and down.”
I am surprised how easily it was to switch positions. The memory foam top is really soft so I was worried I would feel like I would have to push myself out of a position. But I felt like I could easily move around without worry.”
—A Nectar Classic Hybrid tester
Nectar Classic Hybrid pros and cons
Pros
- Good for any sleeping position
- Helps limit a partner’s movement
- Easier to move on
- Stays cool
- Good value
Cons
- Edges could be stronger
- Shorter people may have difficulty getting in and out of bed
Who is the Nectar Classic Hybrid right for?
Due to how responsive this mattress is, it can be a good choice for anyone who has difficulty changing positions. It’s one of the best hybrid mattress options for couples who don’t want to feel their partner’s movements. The Nectar Classic Hybrid has good airflow, so people who prefer a cool sleeping surface may enjoy it.

Who should keep looking for their perfect mattress?
- People who need extra-strong edges to help them get in and out of bed.
- Short or petite people may want to find a mattress that is easier for them to get in and out of.
The Luxe Hybrid: Nectar’s mattress for enhanced cooling and pressure relief
Nectar upgraded its basic hybrid mattress with three times as much pressure-relieving foam and more than double the cooling fibers. Anyone looking for a plush sleeping experience and the hug of memory foam may enjoy this mattress.
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid

- Great motion isolation
- Plush feel
- Even pressure relief and support
- Pain relief score: 2.92
- Material: Innersprings and foam
- Brand firmness rating: 6.5
- Ideal sleeping position: Side, back
Our experience with the Nectar Luxe Hybrid
The main difference between the Nectar Luxe Hybrid mattress and the Classic model is about two inches of support foam and more cooling fibers. The foam is intended to enhance support and gives this hybrid mattress more of a memory foam feel. It also adds two inches to its height for a total of 14 inches—important to note as this may affect sheet fit.
The Luxe Hybrid is softer than the Classic, and some of our testers were not happy with that. One tester, Ruth, a 70-year-old average-weight stomach sleeper with sleep apnea, found that the layers of foam enveloped her and made moving difficult. “This mattress is very hard to move around on,” she said. “I’m putting in a lot of effort switching positions, and feel trapped in the bed. There is no bounce, just a lot of deep sinkage.” Testers who are a lower weight may have a better experience.

The Luxe Hybrid is constructed with more than twice as many cooling fibers in its upper layers as the Classic, and there is an option to upgrade with NectarCool technology for $149. To test the cooling capabilities, we used a heat gun. The Luxe Hybrid without NectarCool had a temperature increase of more than 10 degrees F after testers spent the day on the mattress, while the Classic had only a 6.5-degree F increase. It’s likely the extra layers of memory foam that relieve pressure also trap heat a bit more, which could be an OK trade-off if you really like the feel and support of memory foam.

One area where the Luxe did score high marks is for motion isolation, which can be unusual for a hybrid mattress. But this one was rated by our tester as “pretty good, or better than average.” Individually wrapped coils and memory foam help stop the transfer of motion, preventing a sleeper from feeling movement from a partner (or pet) on the other side of the mattress. This can be useful if you are a light sleeper, or have a partner who is a restless sleeper.
Nectar Luxe Hybrid pros and cons
Pros
- Minimizes motion transfer
- Support with a plush feel
- Promotes airflow
Cons
- May feel too soft for some
- Deep foam makes it more difficult to move around
- Tends to trap heat
Who is the Nectar Luxe Hybrid right for?
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid mattress could be a good choice for lighter-weight sleepers and anyone who prefers a softer mattress. It has the support and plush feel of memory foam, but an innerspring base allows airflow to prevent overheating. It may also be a good option for couples who prefer a hybrid mattress, as it limits motion transfer well.

Who should keep looking for their perfect mattress?
- People who are a higher weight or prefer a firmer mattress.
- It may be difficult for anyone with mobility issues to move on this mattress due to its thick foam.
