When we surveyed older Americans about pain relief and mattresses, fewer than 1% reported owning a Nolah mattress.¹ But that could change as more people learn about the brand.
Nolah mattresses offer a strong mix of comfort, support, and value. That’s why we’ve named them in several of our best mattress roundups, including best mattresses for side sleepers.
More than half of our survey respondents said they own a memory foam mattress.¹ So in this Nolah mattress review, we’ll focus on the brand’s flagship all-foam model: the Signature All-Foam. We’ll also cover the Nolah Natural, the Nolah Evolution Firm, and the Nolah Evolution Comfort+. The Evolution Comfort+ is designed for higher-weight sleepers.
Nolah

- Great for couples
- Strong edge support
- Variety of composition materials
Why choose Nolah?
Nolah stood out to our testers for its motion isolation, pressure relief, and accessibility. We frequently recommend Nolah as one of the best mattresses for couples, due to its ability to dampen movement from a partner.
Most impressive in our testing were Nolah’s accessibility metrics, like bounce and edge support. With a 4.66/5, the Nolah Natural has the highest accessibility score of any mattress we’ve tested. This means our testers found they can move more freely on the mattress, and get out of bed or rest on the edge without using their hands.
Nolah manages to offer all this without being one of the pricier brands on the market. All the mattresses in this Nolah mattress review fall between $1,799–$2,499, and that’s without taking sales and discounts into consideration.

Understanding our scoring
Our mattress recommendations are based on our thorough research and testing. We created two scores to reflect the needs of our audience:
- Accessibility score: A combined score reflecting factors that make it easier for older adults to move around and get in and out of bed.
- Pain relief score: A combined score reflecting factors that help relieve pain while in bed.
The Nolah Signature All-Foam: Nolah’s full-foam mattress
Memory foam tends to contour to your body, which may help it absorb tension and ease pain. The slow-moving nature of foam can also help with motion isolation, which tends to make memory foam mattresses a good fit for most couples. The bed boasts effective AirFoam, a breathable polyfoam that Nolah says helps with pressure relief.
The Nolah Signature All-Foam

- Breathable cotton cover
- Excellent motion isolation for partner sleeping
- Assists with movement
- Pain relief score: 3.22/5
- Material: Memory foam
- Brand firmness rating: 5.5/10
- Most comfortable sleeping positions: Side, back
Pros
- Pairs well with adjustable bed frames
- Strong edge support
- One of our highest-scoring mattresses for motion isolation
Cons
- Shorter trial period
- May be too firm for some
- Stomach sleepers may experience pressure
Our experience with the Nolah Signature All-Foam
The Signature All-Foam is the only mattress in Nolah’s product line made completely of foam—five layers of it, to be exact. The mattress is geared toward pressure relief, an area where memory foam tends to excel due to its contouring nature. Nolah’s AirFoam is designed to help with pressure relief, and our side-sleeping testers felt it lived up to that promise. “My whole body feels equally supported—there’s no part that’s elevated over the other,” one of our side-sleeping testers said.
There’s good mobility on the mattress, too. Some foam toppers fight you when you try to change positions, which may be frustrating if you’re a combination sleeper. But the Nolah Signature All-Foam doesn’t. “The firmer it is, the easier it is to move around and change positions,” one tester said. “This is really easy to switch. It’s really firm.” That solid feel prompted our testers to rate the Signature All-Foam a 9/10 for firmness, so some sleepers may find it too firm for their liking.

Foam composition lends itself well to motion isolation, which is a measurement of how much you do or don’t feel your partner moving in bed. The Nolah All-Foam is an all-star in motion isolation, earning a 5/5 from our testers. This accolade makes it one of the strongest in its category among the mattresses we tested.
The concern with some foam mattresses is that they sink too much under pressure. This can lead to early sagging or compromised edge support. The Nolah Signature All-Foam has strong enough edge support for our testers to get on and off the mattress with confidence. “I don’t need to use my hand for balance,” said one tester. “I feel stable on the edge.” Strong edge support can help older adults and others who may have difficulty getting out of bed.
Who is the Nolah Signature All-Foam right for?
The Nolah Signature All-Foam’s motion isolation makes it a great option for couples. The mattress’s lack of resistance and solid edge support can be a good fit for folks with mobility concerns. The Signature All-Foam can also pair with an adjustable bed frame, creating more options for relief and comfort.
| I may love it if I: | |
| Sleep with a partner | Yes |
| Have chronic pain | No |
| Feel hot at night | No |
| Have mobility concerns | Yes |
| Sleep in the following positions | Side, back |
Who should keep looking for the right mattress?
- Warm or hot sleepers: Our testers found the Signature All-Foam’s topper had a 14-degree increase from body heat over the course of our tests. That’s one of the higher temperature jumps of any mattress we tested. If cooling is a concern, you might want to opt for a more cooling all-foam mattress like the Bear Original.
- Stomach sleepers: If you sleep on your stomach, you might feel pressure buildup in your lower back on the Signature All-Foam.
- People with chronic pain: This mattress is on the firmer side for a memory foam mattress, so it might not be the best option for those looking for a lot of cushioning.
Nolah Evolution Luxury Firm: Nolah’s hybrid with zoned support
Nolah’s responsive hybrid mattress performed well in pressure relief across all sleep positions. This is partially due to its zoned support technology. We were also impressed by the Evolution Luxury Firm’s ability to isolate motion if your partner moves around in bed.
Nolah Evolution Luxury Firm

- Good for partner sleeping
- Strong motion isolation
- Scored well in pressure relief across the board
- Pain relief score: 4.31/5
- Material: Hybrid
- Brand firmness rating: 6.5/10
- Most comfortable sleeping positions: Back, side, stomach
Pros
- Solid edge support
- Relieves pressure in all positions
- Zoned support assists with pressure relief
Cons
- Not as cooling as other Nolah options
- Minor resistance to position changes
- 120-night trial period compared to many that are a year long
Our experience with the Nolah Evolution Luxury Firm
Zoned support offers more firmness where you need extra support and more softness where your body needs some give. This can create a more customized feel compared to a mattress that's just firm or squishy all around. Our testers found that the individually wrapped coils in the Nolah Evolution help it cushion your body while still aligning your spine. “The mattress is conforming to my body nicely,” said one tester. “My spine feels aligned, and I feel really great.”
That mattress's zoned support also contributes to its pressure relief. The Evolution earned high scores in this category for all kinds of sleepers—a 4.5/5 for side and back pressure relief and a 5/5 for stomach sleepers. Despite firmer coils along the edges, the mattress scored a fairly average 3/5 for edge support. This could pose issues for sleepers with mobility concerns when getting in and out of bed.

The mattress earned its place in many of our other reviews for its motion-isolation scores. This refers to the mattress's ability to minimize disturbances when your partner (or pet) moves around in bed. The Evolution Luxury Firm earned a 4/5 for motion isolation. “I don’t think this would wake me,” reported our motion isolation tester after another tester got in and out of the Evolution Luxury Firm. Where the mattress is not great for partners: cooling. The Evolution Luxury Firm scored a 3/5 for its 11-degree increase after use. “It didn’t feel too hot,” said one tester, “but I could see some heat getting trapped in the fabric on top.”
Changing positions on the Luxury Firm proved a bit challenging, largely due to the topper. “I feel like I am struggling more to switch positions due to the soft topper and quilted texture,” said one tester. “I feel like it's a little too soft and stops my body from turning.” While plush foam toppers can help soothe pain, they can also affect ease of movement. Combination sleepers who often change sleep positions may want to consider other options.
Who is the Nolah Evolution Luxury Firm right for?
Because of its good motion isolation, the Nolah Evolution Luxury Firm can be great for couples, as long as you and your partner don’t sleep hot. The zoned support makes this mattress suitable for those with chronic pain. It also helps the mattress cater to every sleeping position. You might struggle to change positions if you're a combination sleeper, though.
| I may love it if I: | |
| Sleep with a partner | Yes |
| Have chronic pain | Yes |
| Feel hot at night | No |
| Have mobility concerns | Yes |
| Sleep in the following positions | Side, back, stomach |
Who should keep looking for the right mattress?
- Hot sleepers: If you’re looking for a cooling night’s sleep, you might have to pay extra for Nolah’s Glacio-Tex pillow topper addition.
- Combination sleepers: The Evolution Luxury Firm can support whichever position you rotate to, but switching between them may bring a little resistance.
- Shoppers on a budget: Those with affordability top of mind might want to look for less expensive options.
The Nolah Evolution Comfort+: A mattress built for higher-weight sleepers
The reinforced steel coils on the Nolah Evolution Comfort+ balance contouring and support with durability. Many mattresses may not provide enough support for higher-weight sleepers (250 pounds or more). So Nolah designed this hybrid mattress with denser foams and a more robust innerspring support layer.
Nolah Evolution Comfort+

- Scored well in pressure relief for all sleep positions
- Impressive motion isolation
- Designed for higher-weight sleepers
- Pain relief score: 3.6/5
- Material: Hybrid
- Brand firmness rating: 5–6/10
- Most comfortable sleeping positions: Side, back, stomach
Pros
- Responsive
- Strong motion isolation
- Has handles for moving
Cons
- Doesn’t cool as much as advertised
- Shorter trial period than other brands
- Most expensive Nolah mattress
Our experience with the Nolah Evolution Comfort+
Your body weight can change how a mattress feels and performs for you. Higher-weight sleepers often find mattresses feel softer than lighter-weight sleepers do. For sleepers over 250 pounds who don't want to buy a very firm mattress, there aren’t many options out there. Nolah’s solution: Build a more contouring hybrid mattress that can support higher-weight sleepers.
The Nolah Evolution Comfort+ scored well in pressure-relief categories across all sleeping positions. It earned 3.5/5 for side-sleeping relief and 4/5s on both back- and stomach-sleeping pressure relief. Our back-sleeping tester said they typically feel pressure in their chest in that position, but not on the Comfort+. “I feel well supported throughout my body," our tester said. "No major complaints about this position.”
The plush pillow-top cover on the Comfort+ helps reduce pressure. But soft surface layers can also impede movement. Not so for this mattress. “I was able to move around freely and switch positions without resistance,” said one tester. “The topper does well with assisting me into other positions.”
When our testers looked at edge support, they noted that the topper is a little silky and slippery. That might make getting out of bed harder for folks with mobility concerns. "But with sheets, this wouldn’t be an issue,” one tester said. The Evolution Comfort+ scored 3/5 for seated edge support and 4/5 for edge support when lying down in various positions.
Who is the Nolah Evolution Comfort+ right for?
The Nolah Evolution Comfort+ tested very well for motion isolation, making it a great choice for couples. It led to noticeable pressure relief in all sleeping positions, which also means the Comfort+ is good for those with chronic pain. But the pillow top retains heat, so we can’t recommend it for people who sleep hot.
| I may love it if I: | |
| Sleep with a partner | Yes |
| Have chronic pain | Yes |
| Feel hot at night | No |
| Have mobility concerns | No |
| Sleep in the following positions | Side, back, stomach |
Who should keep looking for the right mattress?
- Hot sleepers: If you’re a higher-weight sleeper seeking a cooler night’s sleep, you might have to pay extra for Nolah’s Glacio-Tex pillow topper addition. Or you could opt for the WinkBed Plus, another mattress geared toward higher-weight sleepers that scored high on its cooling ability.
- People on a budget: The Evolution Comfort+ is Nolah’s most expensive mattress. Sleepers on a budget might prefer something from DreamCloud’s lineup.
The Nolah Natural: The hypoallergenic option
The Nolah Natural mattress is made with cushioning latex and an organic cotton cover. The Talalay latex layer in the Nolah Natural also keeps it from retaining too much heat, which is great for couples or people who sleep hot.
The Nolah Natural

- Best edge support of the Nolah family
- Made with natural materials
- One of the highest accessibility scores of all the mattresses we tested
- Pain relief score: 4.39/5
- Material: Hybrid
- Brand firmness rating:
- Most comfortable sleeping positions: Side, back
Pros
- Great accessibility
- Cooling
- GREENGUARD Gold certified for low chemical emissions
Cons
- Worst motion isolation in the Nolah lineup
- Not as much relief for stomach sleepers
- Heavy to move (the queen weighs over 100 pounds)
Our experience with the Nolah Natural
When you think of latex, your mental image might lean more clinical than natural. But in the mattress world, latex is just another natural material like cotton or bamboo. Latex is made from the sap of the rubber tree and can help mattresses maintain their bounce and shape over the years.
Our testers found the Nolah Natural to be incredibly responsive. “My hand springs right back,” said one tester. “It’s not like my memory foam mattress at home, where the pressure from my hand takes a while to respond.” The bounce also makes it easier to change positions while sleeping on the Nolah Natural. “I was able to move freely with no concerns,” reported one tester.
Mobility on the mattress is part of why the Nolah Natural received such a high accessibility score. The other part is edge support. We tested this mattress to see whether you could get out of it easily or feel in danger of slipping off the side. The Nolah Natural passed with flying colors. Testers gave it a 5/5 for edge support. “I don’t feel like I’m going to slide off,” said one tester. “I can exit the bed completely without using my hands.” Rising from the edge unassisted is great for people with mobility concerns or for those who like to tie their shoes while sitting on the end of the bed.
Latex also keeps the Nolah Natural cool. Using a thermal gun, our testing team clocked only a 7.2-degree increase in the Nolah Natural after lying on it. “It’s more temperature neutral overall,” one tester said.

Who is the Nolah Natural right for?
Back and side sleepers may like this mattress—particularly those who enjoy an eco-friendly bed. The Nolah Natural earned high marks for pressure relief in most sleeping positions. Light sleepers who share a bed with a restless partner may want to look for a different option. The latex that gives the Nolah Natural its mobility-friendly bounce also causes it to fall short in motion isolation. So when your partner gets into bed, you’re likely to feel it.
| I may love it if I: | |
| Sleep with a partner | No |
| Have chronic pain | Yes |
| Feel hot at night | Yes |
| Have mobility concerns | Yes |
| Sleep in the following positions | Side, back |
Who should keep looking for the right mattress?
- People who sleep with a partner: If you’re not the only one in your bed, you might not like the Nolah Natural. Those seeking better motion isolation may prefer the Nolah Signature All-Foam.
- Stomach sleepers: If you sleep on your stomach, you won’t get as much pressure relief out of the Nolah Natural as side or back sleepers.
How much do Nolah mattresses cost?
The models in this Nolah mattress review range in price from $1,799–$2,499 for a queen size. The two most expensive models (the Nolah Evolution Comfort+ and the Nolah Natural) cost more because of their materials. Durability is key in both those models. The Comfort+ is for higher-weight sleepers, and the Nolah Natural is made with latex, which makes it heavier. The Nolah Signature All-Foam, as the name implies, is made with all memory foam. It doesn’t have the coil layers found in the other three Nolah mattresses, which makes it a little less expensive.

How to use a Nolah mattress
You have two options when your Nolah mattress arrives. You can set up the mattress yourself after it arrives compressed in a cardboard box. Or you can opt for white-glove delivery from Nolah’s third-party contractor, Ryder, which is free if your bed costs more than $1,500.
If you choose to unbox the Nolah mattress yourself, we recommend recruiting at least one other person. Some of the mattresses are heavy, including the Nolah Natural, which weighs over 100 pounds for the queen. Once you're ready, place the box on top of the prepared bed frame or box spring. Unwrap it, and let it expand. Nolah says its mattresses take a few hours to fully take shape.
Is a Nolah mattress right for you?
A Nolah mattress might be the right mattress for you if:
- You sleep with a partner
- You (or your partner) are higher-weight sleepers
- You like to change positions without resistance during the night
We often recommend Nolah mattresses to couples because of their motion isolation and durability, though some models sleep warmer than others. Be sure to read this Nolah mattress review in full to find the best cooling options.
Choosing a Nolah mattress depends on your needs. Are you a higher-weight sleeper? Do you have chronic joint pain? What position do you sleep in? Your answer to these questions will help you narrow down the right Nolah mattress for your needs.
Frequently asked questions
How long do Nolah mattresses last?
Most mattresses last 7–10 years. Latex is designed for greater durability, so the latex-hybrid Nolah Natural may last longer than 10 years if you care for it properly. The Evolution Comfort+ might also have a longer lifespan. It's built to support higher-weight sleepers and has a sturdy innerspring coil layer.
What is Nolah’s return policy?
A Nolah mattress return costs $99, and you have a 120-night trial to decide if you’d like to keep it.
How does Nolah compare to Saatva?
Saatva appears in many of our mattress roundups focused on relieving back pain. Our testers found that Nolah mattresses also have good spinal alignment and pressure relief for back sleepers, which may help with back pain. Saatva mattresses are generally more expensive and priced between $1,099–$5,000. Saatva has a longer trial period (365 nights to Nolah’s 120 nights) and free white-glove delivery. Nolah offers free white-glove delivery for orders of more than $1,500 and charges $199 for orders of less than $1,500.
Are Nolah mattresses a good value?
Yes. While certain Nolah features like latex, higher-weight sleeper models, and those with cooling foam might carry a higher price tag, Nolah has a mid-range price. Our testers found it to be a good value for the quality. Nolah mattresses cost $1,799–$2,499 for a queen size.
