Our testing experience with the Helix Premium Mattress Topper with GlacioTex 

The Luxury Plush is the softer of the two options Helix offers for its Premium Mattress Toppers. Our testers immediately noticed how thick it was compared to other toppers we tried. “This is one of the thicker mattress toppers I have tested,” said one. “It feels soft, cooling, and luxurious.” Our testers were impressed enough to score the Helix Premium Topper a 4.5/5 for materials.

Testers said the hybrid design of this topper was comfortable but supportive. But it also weighed more than the others. “This topper is very heavy, so moving it alone is a little difficult,” said one tester. It includes straps that securely fasten the topper to the mattress, reducing the risk of shifting overnight.

Testers agreed that while this plush topper “felt amazing,” it requires a firmer mattress. On a softer mattress, one tester said, “My body was completely stuck in the mattress and did not have good spinal alignment. It was like my body was wrapped in a topper rather than my body lying on top of a topper.” But using the Helix Premium topper on a firm mattress was a great combination, earning a 4.5/5 for pressure relief. “I felt great pressure relief in my lower back, and the topper gently hugged my body, giving a cloud-like sensation,” said one tester. “In every position, my body felt supported, comfortable, and the pressure relief was a 10/10.”

As with many softer mattress toppers, this one was less bouncy. “There is a lot of sinkage,” noted a tester. “Changing positions was easy to do for the most part, but with the deep design and plush firmness, you do feel a little stuck in the mattress. When I changed positions, the responsiveness took a little longer than other toppers.” If you have m›obility issues or prefer a less enveloping feel, the Luxury Firm model may be a better choice.

This topper’s other weak point was edge support, where it scored 3/5. Between its height and the fabric's slick feel, our tester found it difficult to feel stable near the mattress edge. “My bottom collapsed through the edge immediately and felt like it would slide off the more I exaggerated my position for sitting on the edge,” one tester said. People who are shorter than 5’5” may have trouble with such a tall topper as well.
