March 3, 2026, Arlington, Virginia—The National Council on Aging (NCOA), the national voice for every person’s right to age well, and IBM SkillsBuild, IBM’s free global technology education program, are teaming up to help older adults gain confidence, strengthen tech skills, and stay competitive in the changing world of work.

NCOA has selected 25 local organizations that will bring the IBM SkillsBuild self-paced learning platform directly to older adults who are looking to upskill or reenter the workforce. The online courses cover everything from the basics of AI and career management to fostering a digital mindset and understanding emerging tech.

“Today’s world runs on technology—and building your digital skills can open doors at any stage of life,” said Josh Hodges, NCOA’s Chief Customer Officer. “Through IBM SkillsBuild, older adults can explore self-paced courses that strengthen their tech knowledge, sharpen their professional skills, and prepare them for today’s evolving workplace.”

The 25 local partners will offer in-person support to older adults in their communities as they complete the free, self-paced courses on IBM SkillsBuild.
