Senate Special Committee on Aging

As a special committee, the Aging Committee does not have legislative authority, but it does conduct in-depth investigations of issues and oversight of public policy affecting seniors. It provides an important platform for spotlighting the needs of older adults and the ways programs are succeeding or should be improved.

Appropriations committees

These committees have jurisdiction over the annual funding decisions for Older Americans Act (OAA) programs, falls prevention, Senior Corps, and other social services.

House Education & Labor Committee

This committee has jurisdiction over the OAA, Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), and workforce and job training issues, and shares jurisdiction over health care issues.

Senate Health, Education, Labor & Pensions (HELP) Committee

This committee has jurisdiction over the OAA, LIHEAP, and workforce and job training issues, and shares jurisdiction over health care issues.

House Energy & Commerce Committee

This committee shares jurisdiction over health care, including Medicare, and long-term services and supports.

House Ways & Means Committee

This committee shares jurisdiction over health care, including Medicare and Medicaid, and also oversees Social Security.

Senate Finance Committee

This committee shares jurisdiction over health care, including Medicare, Medicaid, and long-term services and supports, and also oversees Social Security.
