Getting good sleep is not always as simple as lying flat on a bed. Many people deal with pain, snoring, or trouble getting comfortable. These are some of the reasons more shoppers are looking into the best adjustable beds as a solution.

“Adjustable beds can support better spinal alignment by allowing the body to rest in a more neutral position rather than lying completely flat,” said Danielle Wall, MD, an internal medicine physician and sleep advisor at Sit 'n Sleep. “Slight elevation of the head and legs can reduce strain on the lower back and help maintain the natural curvature of the spine, which becomes increasingly important with age. For older adults, even small positional adjustments can make a meaningful difference in comfort.”

An adjustable base lets you raise your head or legs to help ease pressure, improve breathing, and support your body in a more natural position. It can be a useful tool for people with back pain, acid reflux, poor circulation, or swelling in the legs. And there’s some evidence that using an adjustable bed may lead to better sleep quality and duration compared to using standard bed frames.1 In this Nectar Adjustable Base review, we looked at how one popular option fits into everyday sleep needs and whether it really helps people rest easier.

The Nectar brand has built a name around making sleep products that are high quality and fairly priced. It also provides great customer support for those products. We tested the Nectar Premier Adjustable Bed Frame to see how it compared in those and other areas. Read on to see what we learned.

Understanding our scoring

Our mattress recommendations are based on our thorough research and testing. We created two scores to reflect the needs of our audience:

  • Accessibility score: A combined score reflecting factors that make it easier for older adults to move around and get in and out of bed.
  • Pain relief score: A combined score reflecting factors that help relieve pain while in bed.

It has sturdy, all-steel construction and fits most mattresses, even those that aren’t from the Nectar brand. Our testers found the features useful and the operation smooth and quiet. Our experience with the Nectar Premier Adjustable Bed Frame

When we tested the Nectar Premier adjustable base, one of the first things we noticed was how quiet it was. Measuring around 47 decibels (dB), it was one of the quietest models we tried. “It is about the same level of noise as a refrigerator humming,” said one of our testers. “It's not noticeable in your day-to-day.”

The bed frame was also responsive, taking between 16 and 22 seconds to change position. That was one of the shortest times among the bases we tested. Our testers gave the Nectar Premier a 4/5 for adjustments, as the motion was mostly smooth. “The bed made very little jerking movements when I changed positions on the remote,” said one tester.

Testers said the remote settings were unclear without the manual.

The zero gravity setting was a highlight. This involves elevating the head and feet to support a weightless, neutral sleep posture. “The zero gravity position was smooth to get into,” said a tester. “I could feel it relieve pressure off of my lower back.” If you’re comparing options and asking, “Is an adjustable bed worth it?”, features like this can make a big difference in comfort.

Still, it wasn’t perfect for everyone. The upright TV position earned only an average score (3/5). “There is slight pressure in my shoulders, and it feels like it’s kind of pushing most of my body weight forward,” said one tester.

Overall, our testers rated the Nectar Premier adjustable base 4/5. “I think this frame works super well,” said one. “It’s quiet and has some extra features if you're looking for a step up over your typical adjustable bed.”

Who should use the Nectar adjustable base?

Is a Nectar Premier adjustable base right for you? The answer depends on a few things. Adjustable frames can be a good fit for people who need flexibility while sleeping due to pain, poor circulation, acid reflux, or other issues. This is especially true when paired with one of the Best Mattresses for Adjustable Beds.

In our tests, the Nectar Premier adjustable base excelled in noise level, pressure relief, and overall value. So if you are looking for an adjustable base for any of those reasons and want one that is quiet and has extras like a massage function, this may be a good fit.

Who should keep looking for a different adjustable base?

Overall, our testers had great things to say about the Nectar Premier adjustable base. But an adjustable bed frame is not one-size-fits-all. Here are a few reasons someone might answer no to the question, “Is a Nectar adjustable base right for you?”

  • People (especially couples) who need a higher weight capacity (the Nectar is rated for up to 850 pounds)
  • Shoppers on a budget might want to look at less expensive options
  • People who prefer an attached remote control
  • Someone who wants their bed higher than 13 inches

How to use a Nectar Premier adjustable base

Using the Nectar adjustable bed is fairly simple once you get used to the controls. You can control the base using either the wireless remote that comes with it or an app for your smartphone. You can choose preset positions like zero gravity or anti-snore, or adjust the bed manually until it feels right. The Nectar adjustable frame also lets you save your favorite positions using the memory buttons. But setting these up may require a quick look at the instructions, according to our testers.

For everyday use, the Nectar adjustable bed works best when you experiment with different angles to find what feels most comfortable. Many people use the zero gravity setting to reduce pressure or raise the head slightly for reading or watching TV. If you have a Nectar split king mattress, each side can be adjusted independently, making it easier for two people to get comfortable without compromising. The Nectar Premier Adjustable Bed Frame also topped our list of the Best Split King Adjustable Beds.

Nectar Premier adjustable base costs

The Nectar Premier adjustable base in this review costs $789 for a queen before discounts. The Nectar Classic adjustable base costs $649 for a queen. Headboards cost extra. Compared to other adjustable bases, Nectar is at the lower end of the price range. The adjustable bases in this review range from $789–$1,599 for a queen size before discounts.

The cost of an adjustable base is determined by its size, the materials used in its construction, the brand and model, warranty length, and any added features. Nectar also offers discounts for active members of the military, first responders, and health care professionals. You will also want to consider whether a base offers free shipping or a trial period when determining its overall value.
