Hybrid mattresses are often a middle-of-the-road option for sleepers who like soft top layers of memory foam but don’t want to sacrifice the support that comes from the coil core of a hybrid mattress. This mattress’s construction helped it score high for full body support (four out of five), edge support (four out of five), and pressure relief (4.5 out of five).

The Titan Plus features reinforced coils for durability and support, but the foam layers around the coils help give the mattress some flexibility, making it a good fit for an adjustable bed. Note: the firmer the mattress, the less flex, reducing its compatibility with an adjustable bed.

Our testers noted that this mattress is firm enough to comfortably support light- and average-size sleepers in any position. During testing, this mattress received perfect scores in pressure relief for all positions. Our testers experienced neutral spinal alignment, noting that while the internal mattress was firm, the top layer provided a lot of cushion and comfort.

We love that this mattress comes in three different firmness levels—plush, luxury firm, and firm—to help you achieve a custom sleep experience. We specifically tested the luxury firm Nolah Evolution.
The individually encased coils, combined with multiple layers of foam, give this mattress a flexible core, so it should be able to easily conform to the movements of an adjustable bed. The zoned foam and coil design provided support, pressure relief, and responsiveness for all sleeping positions during testing. We found that the Nolah Evolation offered good support in the lower back while providing cushion to pressure points when side sleeping.

Getting a mattress that’s too thin won’t provide adequate support, but going too thick can reduce a mattress’s flexibility. While ideally, we recommend using a mattress no more than 14 inches thick with an adjustable bed, mattresses that are 15 inches can be used. Nolah, for example, recommends its 15-inch-thick mattresses with the brand’s adjustable bed. Talk to your adjustable bed brand rep before purchasing a mattress to ensure you don’t buy a mattress that’s too thick.
