Awara Mattress Review 2024 | Expert Tested
If you’re looking for a new mattress, you may wonder what the best mattress is on the market. The right model for you will depend on your preferences, and the mattresses from Awara may offer a great fit if you’re looking for natural materials.
Awara offers two mattress models: the Natural Hybrid and the luxury Premier Natural Hybrid. Both mattresses combine natural materials (Dunlop latex, wool, and cotton) with wrapped coil springs. Explore our Awara mattress review to learn which mattress may suit your needs.
Alternative pick: Saatva Latex Hybrid
Like Awara’s mattresses, the Saatva Latex Hybrid offers firm support with latex foam and individually wrapped coils. It also comes with a 365-night trial and a lifetime warranty. Unlike Awara, it provides better pressure relief and white glove delivery (setup of your new mattress and removal of your old one), contributing to a slightly higher cost.

Who should use an Awara Mattress?
After testing and researching, we feel comfortable recommending an Awara Mattress to those looking for an eco-conscious, luxury hybrid mattress. But mattress shopping is an individual experience, with personal preferences and comfort needs playing an important role in the choice. Since the Awara Mattress won’t be a good fit for all sleepers, here’s what to consider before giving this option a try.
Sleep position
Individual sleep habits, like your preferred sleep position, can change what you find most comfortable in a mattress. We have found that the best mattress for back sleepers provides lumbar support, preventing sinkage that could compromise spine alignment. Since the Awara Mattresses we reviewed are firm hybrid mattresses with an innerspring core, we think these products could be a good fit for back sleepers as well as stomach sleepers who need a firmer mattress to maintain a neutral spine.
The best mattress for side sleepers is often one that is soft enough to contour to the body, providing pressure relief for hips and shoulders, which we didn’t find to be true of the Awara mattresses in our review.
Body type
Sleepers of a heavier weight compress their mattresses more than average-to-lighter-weight sleepers, requiring more firmness in order to maintain spine alignment while they sleep. As a firmer mattress with strong edge support and a durable innerspring core, the Awara mattress could be a good fit for heavier people. Lighter people, weighing less than 130 pounds, will likely find this mattress too firm since they tend to experience mattresses as feeling firmer than other sleepers.
Back pain
The best mattresses for back pain tend to balance a soft, cushioning surface with firm lumbar support. While the Awara mattresses we reviewed were hybrids, containing supportive coils topped with memory foam layers, we found the Premier Natural Hybrid to be the more cushioning option. Because of the Euro pillow top, we think this mattress will feel soft and cushioning at the surface while delivering the lumbar support that can help reduce back pain.
Partnered sleepers
In our review, we found certain characteristics of the Awara mattresses make them a good fit for couples. If you are sharing a bed with another person, the strong edge support of this mattress will allow you to stretch out comfortably without rolling off the edge. We also found this mattress to have good bounce, allowing for natural movement during sex.
However, it is worth noting that these mattresses don’t isolate movement well. Sleepers who wake easily may find their partner’s movements disturb their sleep, and we would suggest looking at other options with better motion isolation ratings.
Awara mattress return and warranty policies
Awara mattresses all include a 365-night trial, meaning you can try the mattress in your home for a year and return it if it isn’t a good fit. Instead of shipping the mattresses back to Awara, the company states it will help unsatisfied customers find a local option for donation or disposal. These mattresses are protected under a forever warranty, which includes replacement of the mattress as long as you own it if you observe problems like sagging or defects that seem to be associated with a manufacturing problem.
Bottom line
The Awara Premier Natural Hybrid and the Awara Natural Hybrid are both eco-conscious, luxury hybrid mattresses. Both are firm, with responsive coils and Dunlop latex. In our Awara mattress review, we noted the brand also includes generous trial periods and warranties. The higher-priced Premier model boasts a plush Euro top, more cushioning, and a slightly softer feel. The Awara Natural Hybrid offers slightly firmer support at a lower cost. Awara mattresses suit back, stomach, and combination sleepers, but may lack enough pressure relief for side sleepers.
Frequently asked questions
Yes, Awara mattresses are manufactured in China.
According to Awara’s website, Awara mattresses use organic cotton, organic New Zealand wool, and organic Dunlop latex sourced from rubber trees. However, Awara lacks Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certification, which is the industry-wide benchmark for verifying textile organic authenticity. Many competitors are GOTS-certified.
Awara mattresses suit most sleepers, especially back, stomach, and combination sleepers. While some side sleepers may like Awara mattresses, our testers found them firm for side sleeping. They felt uncomfortable pressure on their hips and shoulders while lying on their sides.
There is no guarantee on how long an Awara mattress will last, but Awara offers a competitive lifetime warranty. With its forever warranty, Awara will replace your mattress for free should you see damages from normal use while you own it.
