Seniors are much less likely to participate in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) than other population groups. By leveraging federal policy options, including the Elderly Simplified Application Project (ESAP) and the Standard Medical Deduction (SMD), states can increase senior participation in SNAP.
