In early March 2008, the National Council on Aging (NCOA) convened the National Advisory Group to the Falls Free® Initiative in Washington, DC, to review the Initiative’s progress and help set Falls Free® priorities for the next two to three years. National Advisory Group members came from many communities of interest, including public policy, research, aging, public health, and healthcare, as well as foundations and payers. NCOA and its funding partners (the Archstone Foundation, the U.S. Administration on Aging, and the CDC’s National Center for Injury Prevention and Control) were seeking recommendations from the Group’s members. They also asked members to help identify emerging opportunities that could capitalize on the Falls Free® Initiative’s growing national momentum and help maximize its impact.
