Benefits After Incarceration: Lessons from a Pilot Study

An increasing number of older adults are being released from prison into the community, and while many qualify for benefits, they face a unique set of challenges to access programs. In 2017, NCOA supported the Connecticut State Department on Aging to partner with the state’s Department of Corrections and test a prison-based Benefits Enrollment Center to assist individuals re-entering society following incarceration. Their challenges and recommendations are featured in this issue brief.
