Arlington, VA—The National Council on Aging and the Services & Advocacy for GLBT Elders (SAGE) National Resource Center on LGBT Aging today announced the winners for the 2015 Healthy LGBT Aging Photo Contest. The grand prize photo by Deborah Craig was chosen from more than 60 photos.
The contest was developed to highlight the beauty of LGBT aging and to show the fun, diverse and positive image exemplifying what it is to be an aging lesbian, gay, bisexual, and/or transgender person. Celebrity designer and HGTV star Genevieve Gorder, and NCOA President and CEO James Firman judged the contest. The entries were evaluated based on impact, image quality, composition and storytelling effect for how well they capture and represent the beauty, fun, and diversity of LGBT aging.
“We welcome this opportunity celebrate the first generation of LGBT older adults who are proudly and openly being themselves,” said Firman. “Senior organizations and communities are for all of us, as we age, and it’s important that we represent that diversity in the images we use. It was a wonderful challenge to pick the winners.”
