Happy Holidays from NISC!

As Chair of the NISC Executive Committee, I have the very good fortune and privilege to work with creative, innovative and thoughtful senior center professionals from across the country who volunteer their time and talent to support senior centers, their colleagues, and older adults. As 2017 draws to a close, I want to thank the members of the NISC Executive Team for having a positive and progressive impact on senior center outcomes: Elizabeth Bernat (Chair-Elect; Improving Health); Tracey Colagrossi (State Associations); Pat Branson (Public Policy); Sue Getman(Past Chair); Laura Cisneros and  Beverly Ferry (Economic Security); Jill Hall (Best Practices); Dianne Stone (Standards and Accreditation).

I want to thank you too for all you do in your communities to promote healthy aging. It is important work! Its impact is immeasurable and is not always recognized. In 2018, we hope that many others of our colleagues will choose to share best practices and expertise by joining one of the NISC teams. If you are interested reply to this newsletter request and your email will be forwarded to Maureen or me.

This year, I was excited and pleased to meet many of you at the NISC Senior Centers 2017 Conference held in Oak Brook, Illinois; and, I look forward to seeing you again next spring in Charleston, South Carolina. Our theme is Building Momentum and the Future of Aging. Join us and help shape the future.

Of course, the work that we do is possible because of the support of the NCOA’s NISC staff Maureen O’Leary and Scott Harlow. We also thank NCOA staff who support our work and help us to achieve our goals on a regular basis.

Happy Holidays!
