As part of the NCOA 2019 Age+Action Conference in June, we are organizing an optional Hill Day for those attendees who would like to take the opportunity to meet with their elected officials while in Washington, DC. Hill Day offers a chance to educate policymakers about the important work you do and how you’re helping to improve the lives of constituents. Unfortunately, often members of Congress and their staff don’t know about or understand the work we do.
We often receive questions or concerns from grantees about participating in Hill Day—whether it’s permitted when your agency receives federal funding (it generally is, if it’s education and not lobbying), what you can/cannot say to elected officials, and how to go about scheduling appointments with your Representatives and Senators.
To address these concerns, NCOA’s Public Policy team is offering an informational webinar on February 21 at 3 p.m. ET to talk about Hill Day: what it is, what it isn’t, who can participate, and the support available from NCOA to those who may be interested in setting up meetings.
