On April 18-20, 2017, NCOA’s Center for Benefits Access hosted an invitation-only conference for representatives of state Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA) grantees and our Benefits Enrollment Centers. The conference focused on effective and replicable strategies to increase benefits enrollment among low-income Medicare beneficiaries.

The conference opened with a federal panel on economic security, and Day 1’s breakout sessions focused on debt, reaching special populations, and reshaping messages and programs, among others.

Day 2 of the conference featured plenary sessions on federal policies affecting MIPPA and a review of a social media/marketing campaign pilot, and breakouts on serving veterans and LGBT older adults, Medicare’s preventive services, and more.

The Benefits Enrollment Conference concluded with a networking session and presentation about communicating with policymakers.
