    • Developed by the Defeat Malnutrition Today coalition, this blueprint outlines potential actions to close the gap and improve health outcomes for older adults by addressing malnutrition care across the continuum of acute, post-acute, and community settings. It provides strategies for policymakers, organizations, health care providers, patients, and caregivers.
  • Meals on Wheels America Hunger in Adults Report (2017)
    • This report synthesizes publicly available research on senior hunger, examines how State Units on Aging tackle food insecurity, illuminates challenges and opportunities for community-based nutrition service providers, and recommends effective interventions.
  • Opportunities to Improve Nutrition for Older Adults and Reduce Risk of Poor Health Outcomes (2017)
    • The issue brief from the U.S. Administration for Community Living, Center for Policy and Evaluation offers examples for states and others to consider about how they might improve older adults’ health and well-being through malnutrition interventions for community-living older adults and those experiencing hospitalization.
  • Findings on Nutrition Knowledge and Food Insecurity Among Older Adults (2014)
    • This AARP Foundation report highlights nutrition patterns among low-income older adults, availability of nutritious foods, readability of nutrition labels, enrollment in food assistance programs, and food and nutrition information gaps.
  • Meeting the Dietary Needs of Older Adults (2015)
    • This National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine workshop summary, sponsored by the AARP Foundation, focuses on the broad range of factors, needs, challenges, and potential solutions to addressing the dietary needs of older adults. It is intended for community-based organizations, national leaders, policymakers, and others working to improve the health of older adults.
  • Nutrition and Healthy Aging in the Community (2012)
    • This National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine Workshop summary focuses on issues related to community-based delivery of nutrition services for older adults and identifies nutrition interventions and model programs that support the transition to home care and health and independent living in the community. The workshop aimed to improve awareness and understanding of the technical and policy challenges related to nutrition needs of older adults in community settings.
  • Managing Muscle Loss: What You Need to Know (2016)
    • This AARP/Abbott report highlights findings from a survey administered to AARP members. Provides insights into the state of health for adults age 50+ and their understanding of nutrition, exercise and muscle mass fundamentals.
  • Malnutrition is Affecting Too Many Older Adults (2016)
    • This Forbes opinion piece by Bob Blancato, “Malnutrition is Affecting Too Many Older Adults” highlights the significant costs associated with malnutrition among older adults, offers short-term solutions and long-term goals and strategies.
  • Nutrition Care of the Older Adult: A Handbook for Dietetics Professionals Working Throughout the Continuum of Care (2004)
    • A Handbook For Dietetics Professionals Working Throughout The Continuum Of Care 2nd Edition-I question if this is the best resource since it was revised in 2004.  Although the nutrition support information is still sound, the healthcare field and opportunities for dietitians has and is changing.
