Key Takeaways

  • According to recent research, more than 65% of American adults are financially illiterate.

  • And in 2021, 56% of people surveyed reported feeling anxious when thinking about their financial situation.

  • Join us for part 2 in a two-part webinar series, where experts from NCOA and members of the Benefits Enrollment Center will address the "Financial Well-being and Income Sufficiency Among Older Americans".

As we covered in part 1 of this two-part webinar series, many Americans are finding it harder than ever to make ends meet, especially as the cost of living rises. Older adults, particularly those of color, have experienced physical, social, and financial effects of the COVID-19 pandemic at a greater rate than the rest of the population.

Join NCOA and members of its Benefits Enrollment Center (BEC) network as they present best practices around supporting older adults who are struggling to make ends meet, and how the aging services network can provide them with in-person, benefit enrollment assistance that they may qualify for, but are not aware of.

Since 2009, NCOA has supported a network of BECs that includes 90 organizations serving 39 states. Together, these partners have helped nearly 1 million older adults enroll in the five core benefits— Medicaid, Medicare Savings Programs (MSP), Extra Help (Part D Low Income Subsidy/LIS), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
