To process donations, NCOA collects the following types of donor information:
- Contact information: Name, physical address, and email address
- Payment information: Type and amount of donation, credit card number and expiration date, billing contact physical address and email
- Tribute information: Name, physical address, and email address of donations made in tribute to another person
How Information Is Used
NCOA uses your information to understand your needs and provide you with better service. Specifically, we use your information to help you complete a transaction, communicate back to you, and update you on how your donation is being used. Credit card numbers are used only for donation processing through an encrypted, secure, third party processing system, and are not retained for other purposes. We use tribute information that you provide to send a notification of your donation to the individuals you select.
No Sharing of Personal Information
NCOA will not sell, rent, lease, or otherwise share your personal information to other organizations. We assure you that the identity of all our donors will be kept confidential. Use of donor information will be limited to the internal purposes of NCOA and only to further the work of NCOA.
No Storage of Credit Card Information
NCOA uses a certified, Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliant system called “Stripe” to process payments, and we do not store or keep any credit card numbers. All card numbers are encrypted on disk and the decryption keys are stored on separate machines. Stripe’s infrastructure for storing, decrypting, and transmitting card numbers runs in separate hosting infrastructure, and does not share any credentials with Stripe’s primary services.
Removing Your Name from Our Mailing List
It is our desire to not send unwanted mail to our donors. You can opt-out of donation appeals (both mailed and online) by clicking “unsubscribe” on an email donation appeal or by contacting us at email@example.com.
