NISC Members Can Receive Discounted Movie Licenses
The National Institute of Senior Centers (NISC), an interest group of NCOA, has a long-standing working relationship with the Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC) to provide members with a discount on the MPLC Umbrella License® which allows senior centers to play movies legally for activities and events.
Would your center like to schedule a senior matinée, holiday movie, or classic film festival? Have you ever considered the legal implications of the FBI warning at the beginning of the movie? Senior centers that wish to play films on DVD or home videocassette formats must have a public performance license to comply with the U.S. Copyright Act. While non-compliance carries steep and significant penalties, it is equally important to program activities at your center legally and with integrity.
The MPLC Umbrella License was created in response to the growing demand for video programming. This annual license keeps you safe from the fines and embarrassment that a copyright violation can impose upon your center, and gives you low-cost access to tens of thousands of popular titles from over 365 producers, ranging from independent and major Hollywood studios to family values and foreign producers.
Our members can purchase an annual license from the MPLC at a reduced rate of up to 45% or $125 off the standard non-member rate of $280. If you need an MPLC license, please call MPLC at 800-462-8855 to take advantage of the discounted rates noted below:
- Accredited NISC Members: $155
- Non-accredited NISC Members: $190
- Non members: $280
This is a simple one-step process will allow your seniors to enjoy Hollywood movies--and give you legal peace of mind.
