4 Ways to Act

  1. Share your story using the form on this page
  2. Send a letter to the editor featuring your story
  3. Contact your members of Congress using our look-up service (NOTE: Due to the shutdown, it is harder to contact lawmakers by phone and email. Consider using social media and letters to the editor instead.)
  4. Tell us how it went

First it was the sequester—drastic across-the-board federal spending cuts that took effect March 1.

Now, services for older adults are coping with a federal government shutdown. Once again, local organizations are being forced to do more with less to help seniors in need.

Failure to raise the debt ceiling will threaten delivery of Social Security checks, SSI benefits, payments for Medicare Part D prescription assistance and Part C Medicare Advantage, and benefits for civil service and military retirees.

Your observations of what is happening in your community are critical in this debate. Please share your stories of how you and the seniors you serve are coping with reduced budgets, shuttered government services and potential delay in benefits.

We'll share your stories with Congress, the Administration, and other advocates.
