FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Washington, DC – NCOA announces its participation as a national sponsor of the 17th annual National Senior Health & Fitness Day®, May 26, 2010.
NCOA’s National Institute of Senior Centers (NISC), a dynamic network of more than 1,200 senior center professionals from around the country, will participate in this event by promoting health events at their centers.
National Senior Health & Fitness Day is the nation’s largest older adult health promotion event. This year, more than 1,000 organizations across the country will host health activities on May 26, and more than 100,000 seniors are expected to participate.
Local events will include fitness classes and exercise demonstrations, community walks, health fairs and presentations, and many other activities designed to help older adults become more aware of health resources in their communities. Many local senior groups host National Senior Health & Fitness Day events as part of their Older Americans Month celebrations in the month of May.
“The National Institute of Senior Centers is excited to be a part of National Senior Health and Fitness Day,” said Stuart Spector, senior vice president at NCOA. “This is an excellent way for senior centers to actively engage their members and conclude their month-long celebration of Older Americans Month with a fun and highly visible event.”
As part of NCOA’s sponsorship, NISC members will receive free event registrations. Other organizations that plan to host a National Senior Health & Fitness Day must register for this event by purchasing the official event registration packet from the Mature Market Resource Center, the event organizer.
The registration packet provides useful event planning and publicity resources, as well as the legal right for local groups to use the official trademarked name and logo.
