WHAT:  NCOA will launch a national demonstration program offering free counseling and support to economically vulnerable older adults in eight cities across the U.S. With support from the Harry and Jeannette Weinberg Foundation, NCOA’s Economic Security Service Centers will provide comprehensive, personal economic casework to 4,000 seniors in the next two years. The center locations will be announced at the press conference.

Older adults now face a bewildering array of programs and services, most funded independently and scattered across remote locations. NCOA’s Economic Security Service Centers will provide comprehensive financial assessments and economic security plans for low income older adults. Community-based staff will connect seniors with a range of benefits and solutions and provide personal assistance and follow up to ensure they actually receive the services and programs.

WHO:  Speakers will include representatives from NCOA, The Weinberg Foundation, and Chicago-based AgeOptions, one of the newly awarded service center sites.

  • Monsignor Charles Fahey, Chairman of the NCOA Board
  • James Firman, President & CEO of NCOA
  • Michael Marcus, Harry and Jeannette Weinberg Foundation
