Secure Retirement

Helping older adults find benefits and jobs to improve their lives

Health care costs are rising … job opportunities are drying up … and retirement accounts are taking a hit.

Millions of older Americans struggle every day to make ends meet. Too many have to decide whether to use their fixed income to pay for heat, food, or medicine.

We help older adults find benefits to pay for everything from health care to home heating. And we help them find meaningful work — right in their own communities.

  • The National Center for Benefits Outreach & Enrollment gives community organizations strategies to find, educate, screen, and enroll older adults in benefits that can improve their lives.
  • BenefitsCheckUp® online screening service has helped more than 2 million older adults find more than $7 billion worth of annual benefits.
  • My Medicare Matters is a Web site that helps older adults understand and maximize their Medicare benefits.
  • Our Mature Worker programs connect thousands of workers aged 55+ with training and employment opportunities.
  • Our Economic Security Initiative is funding innovative one-stop centers where older adults can get help to regain their economic footing.

Medicare Made Simple

Medicare offers special benefits to help older adults with limited means. But it can be difficult to understand these programs — let alone enroll. We're asking Congress to make the process easier. See how we can improve Medicare.
