For older adults, staying in their own homes often requires the right mix of financial, health care, and supportive services.

Find all the counseling tools you need to help them right here.

Reverse Mortgage Toolkit

The U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) requires that all reverse mortgage counselors:

  • Use the Financial Interview Tool as part of the budget analysis they conduct with clients.
  • Offer a BenefitsCheckUp® screening to clients.

We've packaged both of these tools into the Reverse Mortgage Toolkit. It is for HUD-approved HECM counselors only.

Please check to see if you can access the Toolkit directly through your client management system.

Further details on accessing these tools will soon be announced by HUD. Training on FIT and BenefitsCheckup will be provided through NeighborWorks.

Use Your Home to Stay at Home™ Booklet

This user-friendly guide helps older homeowners understand the pros and cons of a reverse mortgage. HUD requires that all reverse mortgage counseling clients receive a copy of this booklet as part of their initial packet.
