February 23, 2012

On Feb. 15, NCOA and two of its local Economic Security Initiative sites—AgeOptions and Aurora Family Services—met with funders to discuss the challenges faced by vulnerable older adults and their families. The Midwest Funders Forum, hosted by The Retirement Research Foundation, sought to engage funders in thinking about innovative approaches to help older adults get on a path to economic security.

This Forum was a partnership between regional grantmakers, Grantmakers in Aging, and national funding partners The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation and Bank of America Charitable Foundation.  It provided opportunities for grantmakers with interests in poverty, family, housing and foreclosure, employment and workforce, health, and legal issues to expand their understanding of the issues, learn valuable economic security strategies, and consider ways to invest in innovative economic security solutions.
