Part D Plan Requirements

May 7, 2014

Part D plans, whether stand-alone Prescription Drug Plans (PDPs) or Medicare Advantage plans with Prescription Drug (MA-PDs) coverage must all meet certain requirements established by federal law.

There are two general types of Part D plans—standard and enhanced. The distinctions are based upon the actuarial structure. This means that the structure of each plan is based on how the overall costs compare to those of the defined standard plan.
