Find out how your center measures up!

Programs include:

What's wrong with this picture?
They say the right picture is worth 1,000 words, but when it comes to images of older adults in the media and even in our own materials, the "right" picture is hard to find.  This session will provide critically needed insight into how to evaluate photographs for public consumption and facilitate a discussion about the role aging services providers and other aging professionals can play in promoting more positive images of older adults.

Social Networking for Senior Centers
This informative session examines popular social media, such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and blogs and strategies that nonprofits are adopting to successfully integrate social networking into the implementation of communications, outreach, fundraising, and business plans. We'll present case studies of nonprofits that are utilizing these technologies and demonstrate adopting these strategies increase visibility in their communities, engage Baby Boomers and help older adults connect with others

Beyond Bake Sales

  • Effective Fundraising Ideas that can be implemented in rural, urban or suburban settings
  • Expanding perspectives on fundraising for senior centers
  • Best practice exchange
  • Do's and don'ts

Senior centers must increasingly find additional resources to operate. This session will provide best practices and effective ideas for both rural and urban/suburban settings, as well as do's and don'ts for senior center fundraising. Participants will have an opportunity to discuss how these ideas will work in their setting.

New Models of Senior Centers
Panel of cutting edge senior center professionals - Discussion
Leadership seems to be a key factor in determining success of a senior center. The vision, professional competence, commitment, and courage of senior center leaders can really make the difference. You'll hear from panelists of differing models of senior centers discuss this aspect of being a senior center professional and more.

National Senior Center Standards

Strengthen Senior Centers Today and Tomorrow
Senior Centers must work to meet Standards the our older adults expect and deserve. Learn how to conduct the self-assessment of your organization, while embracing the skills and support of staff, Board/Advisory Committee, and your community. Recognize how the self-assessment process can strengthen your organization and the credibility of your organization.
