Type: Webinar

Overview:

The current economic crisis is national and worldwide. It has been – and will likely continue to be – a jarring shock to the individuals and families we serve. What can we say to people? What advice can we possibly give? How can we help the seniors with whom we work keep the bad news in perspective? Does our mission now include helping people cope with the times we’re living through?

What You Will Learn:

In this webinar, The Financial Meltdown: Part I – Helping Seniors Understand and Cope, we'll take a hard look at questions like these. Our presenter, Harry R. Moody Ph.D., will walk us through the challenges of

  • Helping the older adults we work with better understand the current economic crisis and what they can do to mitigate its effects and adjust to new circumstances.
  • Being ready with a practical tip sheet – things seniors should know and watch for; some steps they can take; some things they should avoid doing.
  • Appreciating the fact that economic hard times invariably affect different people differently, based on age, financial circumstances, life history, and more.
  • Understanding that the risks and injuries we need to be concerned about are not all economic, but psychological, emotional, and social as well.

Dr. Moody is Director of Academic Affairs for AARP. The author of many books on aging, he is known nationally for his work in the field of older adult education.
