Overview:

Boomers represent an enormous potential resource pool for community engagement, including volunteer support for programs serving older adults and their families and caregivers. Explore the challenge of fostering and leveraging expanded civic engagement on the part of Boomers. The presenter of this webinar was Beth Steinhorn.

Speaker:

Ms. Steinhorn is a nonprofit executive and consultant and an associate of JFFixler & Associates. She has over two decades’ experience working with nonprofit organizations and served as editor for the new book Boomer Volunteer Engagement – Collaborate Today, Thrive Tomorrow (AuthorHouse, 2008). Beth serves as a consultant on volunteer engagement, education, and marketing, helping client organizations effectively engage volunteers in capacity-building collaborations, present clear and effective messages, and create a sustainable culture of volunteer engagement.

Beth presented strategies and best practices for:

  • Understanding Boomer demographics and their motivations in terms of civic engagement;
  • Structuring volunteer opportunities tailored to Boomers’ interests and life experiences;
  • Nurturing and sustaining your civic engagement initiatives over the long run.
