Overview:

Msgr. Fahey brings a unique perspective to this discussion. He began his career with Catholic Charities in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Syracuse back in 1961. In 1979 he joined the faculty at Fordham University, where he is currently Marie Ward Doty Professor of Aging Studies, Emeritus.

Along the way, Msgr. Fahey has had a remarkable career as a leader, teacher, and advocate in the field of aging. He attended the First U.N. World Assembly on Aging (Vienna, 1982), the Second U.N. World Assembly on Aging (Madrid, 2002, and the White House Conference on Aging (2005). He has served with distinction as board member and president of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging, the American Society on Aging, and Catholic Charities USA. – and, of course, NCOA.

Msgr. Fahey shared his perspective on questions like these:

  • What should we as a nation be most proud of in terms of aging and aging services, looking back over the past 40 plus years?
  • What still needs work? What are today’s biggest challenges for aging service programs, organizations, and professionals?
  • What are some of the most exciting developments in aging these days?
  • What are the most important lessons we need to pass along to the next generation of leaders and advocates in our field?

Whether you are new to aging services, somewhere in the middle of your career, or – like Msgr. Fahey – looking back on many years in the trenches, this is a presentation and opportunity for perspective and discussion you won’t want to miss.
