RAPP Healthy IDEAS Webinar
Date: August 20, 2008
Time: 12:00 PM
Type: Webinar
The Brookdale Foundation’s Relatives as Parents Program (RAPP) and the Brookdale National Group Respite program along with the National Council on Aging invite you to participate in an interactive on-line Webinar to explore the potential value of Healthy IDEAS to RAPP participants.
Healthy IDEAS is an evidence-based depression program for older adults. We would like to learn whether you think this program offers a practical approach for RAPP. Please join this webinar using your phone and the Internet. All RAPP and respite program staff and partners are welcome.
Depression is high among caregivers. It compromises capacity to cope and puts older people at serious risk of poor physical health. Healthy IDEAS is being used successfully in caregiver support programs.
Healthy IDEAS enables community agencies to help older adults and caregivers detect and reduce severity of depressive symptoms. It offers proven methods to link older people to needed mental health services. It empowers older people to manage depression through a behavioral activation approach that encourages involvement in meaningful activities.
The program is incorporated into the ongoing delivery of social service programs. It builds on established relationships with program participants empowering those at-risk for depression to address this need and other needs to remain at home in the community and continue caring for their relatives. This program is flexibly integrated into staff routines and carried out with effective partnerships.
Healthy IDEAS has been supported by the Administration on Aging and received a Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA) Science and Service Award. See more about Healthy IDEAS.
