As states implement Medicaid managed long-term services and supports (MLTSS) programs, strong state oversight is needed. Adequate state infrastructure, staffing capacity, and expertise in such areas as contract monitoring and quality are essential.

This webinar will draw upon the expertise of current and former state staff with extensive experience in MLTSS. They will provide an overview of MLTSS programs in Tennessee and Arizona, highlight oversight capacities, and discuss quality approaches related home and community-based services outcomes.

In addition, CMS will provide an overview of the External Quality Review process and discuss recent guidance to states concerning this for MLTSS.

Speakers:

  • Patti Killingsworth, Assistant Commissioner, Chief of Long Term Services & Support, Bureau of TennCare
  • Jami Snyder, Centene Corporation; former Operations Administrator, Acute and Long Term Care, Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System
  • Thomas Shumard, Health Insurance Specialist, Division of Quality, Evaluation and Health Outcomes, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
