Preventing Funding Cuts for Healthy Aging Programs: What You Can Do to Help

Date: March 22, 2012

Time: 1:00 PM ET - 2:00 PM ET

Type: Webinar

Bringing evidence-based health promotion and disease prevention programs to millions of older adults will require funding and support at many levels—including from Congress. Although today’s tight federal budget environment makes it difficult to find funding for discretionary programs, NCOA continues to fight for appropriations to support evidence-based self-care management programs.

We can’t do it without an engaged Aging Network! The President has released his Fiscal Year 2013 budget and Congress will soon determine appropriations. Together we can ensure that funding for these critical programs continues so we can impact the lives of those who need it most—vulnerable seniors.

  • Federal policy opportunities and potential barriers to securing federal funding.
  • The difference between advocacy and lobbying to help you effectively participate in influencing the appropriations process.
  • Resources to help educate policymakers about evidence-based programs.

We’ll allow time for participants to ask questions.

  • Howard Bedlin, Vice President, Public Policy and Advocacy, NCOA
  • Kelly Horton, Policy Director, Center for Healthy Aging, NCOA
  • Michelle Rodriguez, Grassroots Mobilization Manager, NCOA
