For seniors who qualify, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly Food Stamps) is a valuable tool to afford nutritious food. Yet the application process can sometimes be troublesome, and both seniors and counselors may not understand their rights or where to go to get problems resolved.

In this third of a four-part series of webinars, the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) and NCOA will:

  • Discuss common pitfalls that delay the application determination (e.g., incomplete documentation, processing delays, etc.),
  • Explain consumers’ rights, and the process by which counselors and clients can appeal a benefits decision, and
  • Walk through scenarios that illustrate how to be proactive when challenges arise.

The webinar is intended both for new advocates in the field of SNAP but also for those who want additional information about SNAP troubleshooting and appeals.

Note: We are unable to offer continuing education credits or certificates of attendance for this webinar.
