The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly Food Stamps) is a valuable tool for many seniors who experience difficulty affording nutritious meals. Yet many seniors—and the professionals who serve them—still falsely believe that they will qualify for only the minimum benefit amount ($15 a month).

In this second of a four-part series of webinars, the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) and NCOA will:

  • Review the federal eligibility thresholds for SNAP and point to where participants can find state-specific information,
  • Outline the different deductions that seniors can take to maximize their SNAP benefit amount, and
  • Walk through scenarios to explain how to receive these deductions given different state contexts.

The webinar is intended both for new advocates in the field of SNAP but also for those who want additional information about SNAP eligibility and deductions.

Future webinars will examine appeals processes and use and retention of the SNAP benefit.

Note: We are unable to offer continuing education credits or certificates of attendance for this webinar.
