As benefits counselors, you play a critical role in helping your clients learn about and apply for various public benefit programs. But what’s really involved in helping your clients “get” public benefits? Is it screening their income and resources for eligibility or helping them complete an LIS application? The answer is yes – but there is so much more!

During our June webinar we will walk through the full spectrum of benefits assistance, which we divide into five phases:

  • Outreach and education
  • Screening
  • Application assistance
  • Understanding how to use the benefit
  • Retention/recertification.

These stages are vital for ensuring that your clients receive, use, and keep the benefits they are eligible for. We’ll share examples from a variety of states and local organizations to discuss creative and effective ways of accomplishing these phases.  We’ll also talk about opportunities to enhance your benefits access work through stronger partnerships.

This training is geared toward those who are new to benefits counseling, and for those who want to learn more about the full continuum of benefits access.
